Chapter 33

"Geumankeum hwanjaneun eung-geubsillo bonaeyahanda." (This patient needs to be send to the emergency room.) ani ng doctor kaya naman nagkukumahog naming itinulak ang hospital bed para dalhin sa ER.

The patient was hardly breathing while his hands are on his stomach and the other doctor was pressing it so that the blood would stop coming out temporarily. The patient must have been shot by a gun.

Nang makapasok sa ER ay nagpaiwan ako sa labas. Tumulong lang naman ako sa pagtulak ng hospital bed dahil isang nurse lamang ang naroon at ang doctor.

"Uisa wae yeogi issni?"(Doctor, why are you here?) nilingon ko ang nagtanong.

Napangiti ako ng makita si Jackson. He's half austi-half korean kaya nagkasundo kami. Siya lamang ang nakakausap ko noon pati narin ang anak ng kaibigan ni Tita Mylene na si Chaerin na marunong mag-tagalog dahil half filipino.

"Annyeonghaseyo, seonsaengnim. oneul jal eoullyeoyo!"(Good evening, Doctor Kang. You looked good today!) bati ko rito at tumalikod na upang bumalik sa pedia ward.

"Where do you think you're going?" umalingawngaw ang striktong boses nito. Mabuti't nag-english rin.

Napahinto ako at napapikit ng mariin. Kung pupwede lamang ay wag niya nakong kausapin dahil pagagalitan nanaman niya ako.

"Babalik na sa ward ko." sagot ko para di niya maintindihan.

"Neo nawa hamkke gaya hae"(You need to come with me.) anito na parang wala lang ang sinabi ko.

"W-Why? I need to go back. I was happened to be passing by the entrance to buy coffee when there's an emergency. I only helped them that's why I'm here in front of the ER, I was just going ba—"

"President Kang wants to talk to you." he said seriously.

Nanlaki ang mata ko. "Wae?" (Why?)

Nagkibit balikat siya at tinalikuran ako. Napabuntong hininga ako bago sumunod sa kaniya.

I'm only an intern in Seoul Hospital. I'm still studying medicine here in Seoul kasama si Chaerin at Jackson, and lucky for me, my friend is actually the son of the president of Seoul Hospital. Jackson Kang.

It's been three years. Now, I'm in my second year in medicine. It was hard for me to enter college here in Korea. Especially, last year ko na sa college.

But, Chaerin helped me. Lalo na si Jackson. Hindi pa niya ko kaibigan ay nakatulong na siya sakin. I was very thankful. Kahit strikto at suplado ay mabait at may puso. I always thought may something sa kanila ni Chaerin, pero mukhang wala namang balak pumasok sa isang relasyon si Jackson.

Looking back three years ago. It was a wrecked year for me. Running away isn't the best decision but running away is the only choice I wanted to take to save my dignity.

Tita Mylene said hindi ako babalik ng Pilipinas kung hindi ko pa nahahanap ang dating ako. But, I've changed and I won't find my old self again.

I don't want to go back either. Kahit na ba okay nako, I'm already contented here in Korea. At isa pa, Papa visits me here. He scold me a lot back then, tinanggap ko 'yun dahil naging tanga ako pero everything is fine now. At nagpapasalamat pa nga ko at hindi umabot sa kaniya ang picture.
