Johum detested the idea of being married to that man after a week. There had been preparations going on in the house for the ceremony and even Yarah had flown over from San Francisco.

In the course of two weeks, Zayan had given her two rings. First ring, which was ruby red, she understood that it was supposed to be kind of engagement ring. But the second one, she did not understand why he gave her that.

She had taken off the second one and placed it inside her jewellery box, he threatened her not to take off the first one and she did fear him. So she did not dare defy him. However, she was still going to try and talk to him, out of this marriage that is.

She did not want to get married at all and to that man, never. He was frightening and he carried guns for God's sake. She did not understand why he had guns with him and why they were attacked the other day. She had yet to ask him about that.

University had been getting tougher with each passing day for Samantha was asking questions and Rua and her friendship was no more a friendship. They did not talk to each other at all.

Sam was stuck between all of this. She did not understand why Rua was aloof and why Johum was getting married out of blue. If her friend liked anyone she would have told her. So she was finding it difficult to believe that someone so young could marry.

They still had lunch together but never made an effort to enter a conversation. Now was not any different. Three of them sat around a table with awkward tension in the air.

Johum knew how much Rua detested her right at the moment for reasons only known to her, but she refused to ask her the reasons. Why should she? After the way she treated her the other day and how she staked her claim on Za'ir like Johum was some whore ready to pounce on Za'ir. She was not that desperate. She never claimed Za'ir even though she...loved him.

Johum swallowed the last bite of her pastry and stood up. She dragged the chair backwards and walked towards trashcan to throw away trash. When she returned, she saw Sam getting up with her phone attached to her ear. Johum walked towards the table and picked up her bag, she wanted to be out of sight.

"Johum." She halted, one step ahead of other. Johum turned around and gnashed her teeth together. Rua stood up from the chair she was sitting on and gave her a look. "Zayan is despicable, he is evil and filled with so much vile." Johum narrowed her eyes, feeling the anger.

"And you're not?" Johum retorted, tilting her head to side. Rua glared at her and fisted her fingers.

"He has some hidden agenda behind all this. He is forcing you to marry him isn't he?" Rua lashed, she leaned forward, "He wants something."

"At least he doesn't lie about his intentions like you. He is not a backstabber Rua, and I appreciate that." Rua's eyes widened and then huffed angrily. Johum couldn't believe she just defended Zayan the Lucifer.
