It was a hurricane when she came to her senses and looked at his face. Pressing herself to the seat and looking at him with anger, hate and rage, she searched for the door handle with her hand.
Johum swallowed. There was a chaos of emotions in her eyes and on her face and Za'ir had already braced himself for the rage that she would unleash.
His face was mixture of emotions. The guilt and regret being prominent.
"Please li-"
"Open this damn door or I will break it!" She threatened but she knew it was an empty threat. He could do anything with her in the middle of these woods, no one would hear her screams and he could even use the river to his advantage.
Za'ir shifted on the seat and moved closer to her. His eyebrows drew together as his lips parted and he frowned.
"Please listen to me. I jus-" He went for her arm but she pushed his hand away harshly and glared at him.
"Don't fūcking touch me!" Her voice sounded more like a snarl as her eyes gave him a look that people loathed - a look full of hatred yet many hidden emotions.
"Johum. Please," He grabbed her hand in his own, forcefully and then knelt in front of her in the van. "Just let me-"
"Don't touch me!!!" She screamed and pushed him away, once again banging against the door to free herself and screaming out in rage when she failed. "Open it!! What do you even want from me? Why won't you both leave me alone!" She fisted her hair in her hands and cried out.
Za'ir was desperate. He yanked her wrists and leaned closer, getting face to face with her. He had a begging look on his face.
"Please, listen to me." He shook his head frantically, "I wanted to apologize. You have no idea how sorry I am Johum." He eyed the bruise on her jaw with anger and guilt. "I don't know how it happened...I never did it. I am not an animal. Please forgive me." Her struggles faltered as her stiff arms relaxed in his arms and she stared at him with wonder and confusion.
He was begging her and she could see the disdain in his eyes. He was guilty.
"I know it doesn't justify my actions and it also doesn't excuse me for dragging you here." She glared at him and pulled at her wrists in his hold but he tightened his hands around them and pulled her hands in her lap. "Please forgive me. I can't live with my conscience." He swallowed and blinked his eyes slowly.
Johum eyed the cresent shape of hairs around his eyelids, the shadow those lashes created on his cheekbones. She stared in those deep Stormy eyes, looking like a an ocean facing chaos.
Her heart stammered and her gaze lowered to her hands in his hold. She bit her lip and that was it. The brutal sting on her lower lip brought back all the anger and she pushed herself away from him, staring at him with eyes that could kill with a look at the time.
"I hate you!" She spat. A lie of course but he did not need to know that. Za'ir's jaw clenched tightly and his nose flared in anger. He opened his mouth but the door of the van was pulled open with a thunderous force and she was yanked out.
"Get in the fūcking car!" The second brother snarled, pulling at her by her arm. She was pulled like a sack of potatoes from the car and glared at him.
"Don't order me!" She growled. And suddenly she gasped for his face was in ruins. The side of his forehead was sliced open and blood was pouring down his right cheek. His lip was busted and when she glanced at his knuckles, his whole hands were red.
Zayan shook with bottled up rage and grabbed her bicep tightly. He dragged her towards his car and practically threw her in.
"Stay here!" He snapped.
