C H A P T E R  T H I R T Y - T H R E E

After Taehyung deliberately kissed me and gave me a heart attack, we went back in the cafeteria. "Well aren't you smiling from ear to ear," Seokjin teased.

"Am I?" Taehyung calmly asked, wiping his grin off his face.

"He's talking to us!" Jungkook exclaimed. He snapped his head at me and widen his eyes. "Tell us your secret oh wise one!"

"Iㅡ "

Taehyung flicked his forehead and pulled me to sit down. "Stop talking nonsense, kooki." The maknae of the group rubbed his forehead and pursed his lips.

I glanced at Yoongi, Hoseok and Namjoon and slightly frowned. "I'm sorry that I didn't get to watch your performance yesterday but, I'm sure it was daebak!"

"That's alright. We understand," Namjoon genuinely smiled.

"Chaewon," Taehyung nonchalantly said. He was eating his lunch when he stared at me. "Go out with me later."

Everyone in the table gasped. "But we need to finish our research in the library before three, later. Also we haven't even started on our presentation." I tried to recall back the things we both delayed for the past week.

"Let's do that after." He chewed his red bean pasted bun and gulped it down his throat. "Dress nicely." He grabbed his coat and threw it over his shoulder as he stood up. "I'll pick you up at two."

Just that, he left. "I swear to god he's bipolar," I muttered and pursed my lips.

"Don't worry about him," Namjoon stated. "He's always bipolar at this time of year."

I smiled and understood what he meant. Today was his late mother's death anniversary. I got up and bowed my head. "I'll take my leave now. I'll see you guys around."

I went out and walked around the campus, still hugging my books close to me. My mind suddenly thought about the kiss earlier. Did that kiss mean anything? That question's been bothering me and I couldn't help but feel slightly annoyed.

"You might get wrinkles if you keep frowning like that." My mind was cut off when I looked up and saw Se Jun flashing a wide smile. "A penny for your thoughts?"

"Ah.. it's nothing, actually." I rubbed the back of my head and fixed my spectacles. Just then, I remembered that Se Jun is Taehyung's soon-to-be step brother. I bite my tongue and refrained myself saying anything.

"It's better if you voice out your question instead of bottling it up in your head," he chuckled.

"Iㅡ " I let out a soft laugh and nervously smiled. "Today is Mrs.Kim's death anniversary. Are you going to pay your visit?"

"Actually, I am. Why'd you ask?"

"It's just that.. you seem like a nice guy but, Taehyung doesn't seem to like your presence."

"I notice," he muttered.

"I don't mean to intrude but," I scratched the back of my ear as I lowered my gaze.  "Did- something happen between you two?"

"I don't really know," he rubbed his temples and ran his fingers through his thick locks. "Ever since my mom and I moved into the house, he's been giving me the cold shoulders and would sometimes get on my nerves whenever he gets the chance. I guess he was furious that his mom was replaced. I went to study overseas last year for a few months, in hope that Taehyung's fire would extinguish. but I guess I sparked it back right after I came back to Seoul," he sighed and shut his eyes.

"His mom was replaced," I murmured under my breath and played the same sentence in my mind.

The reason why I was assigned to Taehyung in the first place. To find out what was his family issues. To find out why he had these issues. All of this.. His bad grades, cold side, being bipolar.. everything. All of this happened because of his mom..

because she was replaced..
