C H A P T E R  T H I R T Y - S I X

After having various of conversations with Mrs.Kim, we left and decided to go on a 'date' that Taehyung mentioned yesterday. We didn't know where to go because nowhere seemed to be fun. So, we ended up going to Hangang Park.

"So," he beamed and lifted our locked hands. "Are we a thing, now?" His eyebrows quirked up in amusement. I widened my eyes and looked away in embarrassment.

"Ah wait what. Er.. W-what makes you think so?" I chuckled nervously and rubbed my nape.

"Do you not like me?" He frowned and stopped walking.

"What!" my eyes widened even more. "No no! that's not what I meant! I mean..I do like you but..eh wait! what? I  uh.. dont. mmphh!! I do butㅡ AH!" Taehyung flicked my forehead and lifted his upper lips.

"Tch, pabo." I pursed my lips at him and we continued walking near Han River.

I realised as we were walking, Taehyung kept frowning. "Something wrong?"

He sighed. "You know.. my mom used to bring me here quite often when I was a kid. My dad was too busy with the company to even come with us but, that didn't stop her from bringing me. I would whine sometimes because I got easily tired walking around and she would let me rest on the bench and would buy me ice-cream.

One time, I was running around and tripped." He laughed as he reminisced. "She had to tirely carry me on her back. hmmm..I miss her being around." He paused and his frown re-appeared. "So when I found out Se Jun and his mom moved in, I got angry. I felt as thoughㅡ"

"ㅡyour mom was replaced," I continued his sentence. He stared at me with sad eyes. "I know the feeling." I smiled and broke our gaze. "I recently found out my mom was dating someone. My dad and I were really close, not until he passed away a few years back. So, I didn't really like the idea of another man replacing him."

"You must've been hurt," he muttered.

"I admit it's painful to know our loved ones being replaced. But," I stopped walking and stared at the river. I released his hand and placed my arms on the rail. "ㅡ When I saw that smile on my mom's face, I knew that she's happy with him. And I would do anything to make sure that smile stays." I pictured the grin on her face and quirked up the corner of my lips. "Because, I love her." I paused and looked down. "And I hope you would do the same for your dad."

"Did I ever tell you, you have a heart of gold?" I snapped my head to my side and realised that Taehyung was staring intensely at me.

"You have a heart of gold too, you know." I nudged him. He shook his head. "No?" I questioned.

"I don't have a heart." He took a step closer and dipped his head down. "Because a thief stole it." He cupped my cheeks and lightly kissed me. "You're under arrest," he whispered before his lips firmly kissed mine yet again.

It was then, my arms automatically snaked their way around his neck as I returned the kiss. It took us a moment until he pulled away and gave me a sly smile. "I guess we are a thing now."
