Scarlett's POV

I followed him into the store and went straight to the bathroom. I quickly locked the door and pulled out the stolen phone. I typed in the number that I never thought I would ever use again.

The phone rang five times and just as I was about to give up a voice came through the line. "Hi. Is Mrs. Hale there?" I ask praying that it was still the same number.

"No. She left about an hour ago to get some groceries. This is her daughter Rachel may I take a message." Rachel asked me.

"Yeah. But first how's the shoulder?" I asked seeing if this was the Rachel I thought it was. I heard her gasp in surprise.

"Kate? Please tell me that's you." Rachel replied her voice cracking.

"No. Sorry. Wrong person. This is Scarlett." I said listening as the phone slipped from her hands and bounced off the floor. "Rachel! Pick up the phone! I have to hurry!!" I shouted hoping that I couldn't be heard outside.

"Oh my god. Scarlett I thought that you were dead. Can you ever forgive me!?" Rachel exclaimed hurting my ear.

"Rachel you are already forgiven. Now listen. Cage is taking me somewhere. We just left a hotel called The Grand Hotel. It's in California. Contact Kate. Tell her about this. Oh I have to go." I said hanging up the phone and stuffing it back into my waistband as the knocking on the door became more persistent.

"Scarlett hurry up!!" Cage shouted banging on the door.

"Give me a minute!" I shouted turning on the hand dryer. A couple minutes later I walked out the door trying to hide my limp.

"What took you so damn long?" Cage asked after we got into the car.

"I told you I had to use the bathroom. I had to stop the bleeding again." I said motioning to the blood stain on my jeans.

"Oh." He said pulling out on the busy parkway.

"So seeing how I'm never going to see my friends and family again, could you tell me where we are going?" I asked hopefully.

"My parents had a house out here. They passed away a few years back. If I can remember where the house is that's where we are going." Cage said looking at me.

"Why did you take me in the first place? I mean what were you looking for in my house that night?" I asked watching as his fingers tightened around the wheel.

"That's none of your business." He said angrily. So I turned and stared out the window.

Rachel's POV

I placed the phone back in its cradle shocked.
I heard the back door open and looked up to see mom walk in with an arm load of groceries.

"Mom. Scarlett's alive." I said and her head shot up to stare at me as all of the groceries fell to the floor.

"What?" She asked looking at me.

"Scarlett's alive. She called looking for you. Let me call Kate and then I'll explain everything." I said as she pulled me into a hug.

I picked up the phone and waited for Kate to answer.

"Hello?" Kate asked.

"Kate it's Rachel. Scarlett's alive. She called." I said as she interrupted me.

"What? Rachel calm down I understand you." Kate said into the phone.

"I got a call from Scarlett." I said looking at mom's shocked face.

"You what?" Kate asked quickly.

"I got a call from Scarlett. She told me to tell you that they are in California. They left a hotel called The Grand Hotel." I answered trying to explain quickly.

"Okay thank you. I'm leaving now. Bye." Kate said.

"Take Isaac with you. And catch those people." I said playing with the phones cord.

"I will. Promise." Kate said hanging up on me.

"Mom. Don't worry. Kate will find her. She promised to catch those people. We will see Scarlett again." I said sitting down next to her.

"I know. I trust Kate. I just don't want her to get herself killed. And I really want to see Scarlett again. I want her to be happy and healthy again." Mom said letting the tears roll down her cheeks.

"You will mom. Because when Kate sets her mind to something she does it. Scarlett to. Scarlett pulled a bullet out of my shoulder. She saved my life and she didn't even know that I'm her sister. She helps people. She'll be back." I said trying to reassure her.

"I'll just be happy to have my family back. Do you even know where your father is?" Mom asked as I looked at the clock.

"Mom. He's just now getting off of work. He'll be here soon." I answered thinking of all the things that he had missed today.

"He's got a bunch of surprises coming his way once he walks through that door." Mom said looking at the ground.

"The question is will he believe them all?" I ask holding my mom's hand.

"I hope so. I sure do hope so." Mom replied squeezing my hand for reassurance.

Then the back door opened and dad walked in. I stood and waited till he looked up and saw me. "Dad." I whispered running into his open arms.

"Oh my god. Are you alright?" He asked hugging me tightly.

"Yeah. Mom and I have some things to tell you. Trust me you're not going to believe this. But it's all going to be true. Come on. I think that you should sit down for this." I said my voice muffled by his coat.

I grabbed his arm and pulled him over to the couch and pushed him into it.

"Rachel. What is it?" Dad asked looking up at me. I didn't answer at first I pulled the sleeve of my shirt down so he could see my healing bullet wound.

"Dad they had to shoot me to take me. And you are not going to believe this but Scarlett's the person that saved my life." I said as he stared at the hideous scab on my shoulder.

Then what I said finally registered in his mind. "Scarlett's alive?" He asked in shock.
