Scarlett's POV
We drove in silence for a while. "Liam I didn't know that Charlie was your sister. Not until today. But I've known her for years. She would clean my wounds and I cleaned hers." I said looking out the window.
"But one day he took her and she never came back. I screamed and yelled but it didn't do no good. He told me that she was dead. I believed him. He had killed enough of my friends." I said sadly.
"Then with your help I got out. Me and Kate we went after him. He wouldn't go into custody peacefully though. He pulled a gun. I put three bullets in his chest and Kate put one through his head." I said casting him a sideways glance. His fingers were tight on the wheel.
"Any way we said a search through the house. First I found my daughter who I also believed was dead. But then I found Charlie. She was curled up in a ball in the dark. She had literally need stabbed in the back." I said watching his fingers tighten.
"Kate and I rushed her to the hospital and she asked me to find a good home for her baby Joshua. Then she asked me to contact you. I agreed. The doctors are worried about her. She had an allergic reaction to the medicine. And she is very malnourished." I said laying a hand on his.
"But Liam. I think she's going to make it. Once she gets food back in her system she'll get her strength back. She's a strong young woman. You know she was just a girl when she showed up seven years ago. But she never gave up hope. Not until now, when she is actually free." I said removing my hand to wipe away the tears that were rolling down my cheeks.
I layed my hands in my lap and turned back to the window. "Scarlett if you don't mind me asking what happened to your leg?" Liam asked as we passed a small cottage.
"Well the night I went home after I left you your phone. Rachel and I we went for a drive and he chased the car off the road. Rachel's still in the hospital but he took me. He locked me in a small dark room." I said remembering the darkness.
"Then he came in and tried to to have his way with me again. I fought back by telling him that his brother was dead. Then the doorbell rang and I opened the door. I ran and ran. All I knew was that my leg hurt but no kept running." I explained as I felt a warm hand wrap around mine.
"You don't have to tell me." Liam said softly.
"Yes I do. Anyways I ran to the police station. Kate saw me and I passed out. When I woke up I was in the hospital. My leg was gone. When I asked what happened my mom burst into tears and ran from the room and my dad followed her." I said as he lightly squeezed my fingers.
"Kate told me that I had broken my leg in the crash. Then by running on it I tore all the muscles and ligaments in it. It was beyond repair. They left the decision up to Kate. She thought it would be better with it gone. I agree with her fully to." I said pulling my hand out of his to wipe my eyes as we pulled into the hospital parking lot.
"Let's go see Charlie. You know she raised my daughter. Taught her how to talk. How to walk. I owe her a lot. If she does take a wrong turn I'm going to take Joshua in. It's the least I can do." I said as I got out of the truck the same way I got in.
Liam and I walked into the hospital in silence. I called the elevator just as I heard my name being called. I turned and saw Charlie sitting in a wheelchair hook to an IV and a heart monitor. Taylor was sitting in her lap.
I grabbed Liam's arm and started toward her. "Mom!!" Taylor screamed running at me. She jumped on me and I tried to catch her but she caught me off guard and I fell on my back with her on top of me.
"Scarlett are you okay?" Liam asked as I opened my eyes to see him staring down at me with worry. He lifted Taylor off of me and she bit his arm. He sat her down and rubbed his arm.
"I'm fine." I said just laying there. "I think I need help up." I added nervously. Liam laughed as he reached down and picked me up. I thought he was just going to give me a hand or something.
"Come on Charlie's waiting." I said as he kept an arm around my waist as I grabbed Tay's hand and we started towards Charlie leaving my crutch on the ground.
"Charlie how are you doing?" I asked once we got there. She smiled up at me.
"A lot better Scar. The doctors believe that I should make a full recovery. By the way Kate came looking for you about an hour ago. I told her where you went and she was pissed." Charlie said with a smirk.
"Wow. What exactly did you tell her Char?" I asked knowing that smirk.
"Just the facts." Charlie said looking up at Liam with a smile. "Hey little brother. How's everything been the last seven years?" Charlie asked at a loss for words.
Liam helped me sit on the floor so I pulled Taylor in my lap and watched them.
"Is that all you got to say?" Liam asked as he fell to his knees next to her. "I thought you were dead. I didn't know you had been kidnapped. I thought they had killed you." Liam said choking then he pulled her into a tight hug.
I slowly made my way to my feet and held onto Charlie's wheelchair as Taylor ran to get my crutch. When she handed it to me Liam and Charlie were still hugging.
"I'm just going to go now. Let you two talk alone for a while." I say and start to walk off. Taylor and I got into the elevator and I smiled to myself happy that I had made my friend happy.
"Come on Tay. Let's go face my family." I say with a sigh.
"Why can't we go home?" Taylor asked looking up at me. "I always wanted a home." She added which only made me sadder.
"Taylor I don't have my own home. And my parents don't have any extra rooms. But Kate should if she still live a where she did. Would you mind staying there until I can afford our own place?" I asked as the elevator doors opened.
"No. I guess not." Taylor grumbled looking down and the tiled floor.
