Scarlett's POV
"Kate we are here." I said reaching over and shaking Kate awake. She groaned but opened her eyes.
"I'm awake. Stop poking me." Kate said with a laugh as she turned to face me. I lowered my hand with a smile. "Let's go talk to your dad." Kate said and my smile faded.
"Yeah. Let's get you into the chair." I said suddenly all serious. I got out and helped her into the chair.
"Do you have a blanket?" Kate asked with a frown. I nodded and handed it to her. My eyes widened when she hide a gun under the blanket.
"Kate you won't need that with my dad. He won't hurt us." I said surprised.
"Scar. I know you love him. But these days nobody can be to careful. Those that don't have bad luck are just plain lucky." Kate said and I shook my head even though she was right.
"Fine. Let's go." I said before pushing her towards my house. Dad stepped onto the porch before I could get there. "Dad we need to talk." I said and kate reached under the blanket.
"Why? What have I done?" Dad asked sitting on the steps blocking the door.
"You know what you did. Now we need to know what Cage's sisters name was. The one that died when you were drunk driving." Kate spoke up and dads eyes widened as he turned to face me.
"You told her!?" Dad screamed at me surprising me enough that I took a full step back. "Why?" He asked a little quieter.
"Dad. We think that she didn't die. I think she was working with Cage to ruin you. She knows that you were driving that car. We think that for a while she was hiding but then she learned that you got married." I said looking to Kate for support.
"Mr. Hale. What was the girls name? And do you have any old pictures that way we can find her?" Kate asked shaking her head.
"Sure. Her name was Lisa Jones. She liked to party." Dad said getting up and going into the house.
"Scar. Go on in. Everything will be okay." Kate said and I followed Dad into the house.
Kate's POV
I watched as Scarlett walked into the house glancing over her shoulder as she went in. I knew that I was being watched so I knew the second I heard the branch crack behind me exactly who it was. I turned to look over my shoulder and shook my head.
"Mrs. Hale. I never would have guessed this would have been because of you. But I see it know. The reason Scarlett was familiar with the voice was because it was her own mother's voice." I said shaking my head.
"You know I couldn't remember who drove the car that cost me so much. But I remembered fourteen years ago. I got in contact with my brothers and I knew that Dustin had to pay for what he had done." Mrs. Hale said walking closer to me.
"But you put your own daughter at risk." I spoke up confused.
"Ah but she was never supposed to be hurt. Just Dustin. But he didn't care enough to continue looking for her. He just wanted the insurance money." Lisa said shaking her head.
"But now you have it all figured out. And you killed my brothers. So now I have to kill you." Lisa said pulling a gun from behind her back.
"Lisa. You don't want to do this. You don't want Scarlett or Rachel hurt. Killing me will only cause them pain." I said trying to reason with her and wishing I had brought backup.
"And the worst part is Dustin knew who I really was the whole time. He lied to me for close to twenty years. He never loved me." Lisa said and I could tell she was about to cry.
"Lisa. You should have told him you remembered. Instead you went to your brothers. They beat and raped your daughter for fourteen years and you could have ended it all by just telling Dustin. What did you do when they took Rachel? Huh? I saw your reaction to her returning. That wasn't something that you had planned." I said stalling for more time.
"No. Rachel wasn't supposed to be taken. And I was told Scarlett was dead." Lisa said as Scarlett appeared at the front door. "I almost couldn't live with myself for what I did to her but I had Rachel. But then you started digging into everything and you found out the truth." Lisa said crying now.
As I looked at Scarlett I saw the sadness in her eyes. But something was different as she stepped out the door. "Mother." She called and Lisa turned to face her.
"Scarlett. I can explain." Lisa said lowering the gun.
"Dad's dead mom. He drank poison. I thought the coffee smelled funny and I recognized the smell. Cage used that type of poison all the time. You killed dad. And you almost killed me and now you are threatening to kill my best friend." Scarlett said tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Scarlett honey. I just wanted your father to pay for what he did to me. You weren't supposed to be hurt. Believe me they said they killed you and I believed them." Lisa said shaking her head at Scarlett.
"Mom. That doesn't explain why you were about to kill my best friend who happens to be a member of the local police department." Scarlett said drying her tears with a frown.
"What am I supposed to do!? I just killed my husband!" Lisa exclaimed the gun falling from her hand.
"Come with us and turn yourself in Mom. Pay for your crimes." Scarlett said calmly as I pulled my gun out.
"Lisa. We can do this Scarlett's way or my way. There is no escaping what you have done." I spoke up from behind her. She turned and saw the gun and her eyes widened.
"I'll turn myself in." Lisa decided and started towards my car. We all piled in and drove to the station.
"Isaac. Book her. Somebody bring Journey to her. I think it's about time this family comes together." I said as we went through the front doors.
