Scarlett's POV
I walked quickly to Kate's car with an uneasy feeling deep in my stomach that I tried to ignore. As I started the car Rachel climbed into the passenger seat and stared at me.
"Scar, we don't have to do this now. It can wait." Rachel said as I stopped at the end of the drive.
"I know." I said pulling into the busy road. "But your request was reasonable. Even if Liam didn't realize it, he had a part in saving my life." I said passing a familiar black sedan.
Without thinking I turned to look at the driver. I gasped as I met Cage's cold eyes. He smirked at me as he jerked his steering wheel to the left.
Rachel screamed as his vehicle hit ours. I fought to keep the car on the road. I stomped on the gas trying to escape from him once again.
Cage stayed right on my bumper though. I risked a glance at Rachel. "Rachel?" I asked reaching out and grabbing her arm. She didn't move. "Rachel!!" I screamed shaking her.
Rachel's head fell back and I saw the blood trickling down her cheek from a cut on her forehead. "You are going to be okay. I promise. I will escape this." I whispered my promise but even as I said the words I felt doubt nibbling at the back of my mind.
Suddenly there was a loud noise. I looked into the mirror as Cage hit my bumper. I pressed the pedal farther down as he sped up again. "Rachel. I'm so sorry." I shouted stomping on the brakes and coming to a complete stop.
Cage crashed into us sending my car into a spinning circle. I cut the wheel trying to gain control but it wasn't working. I looked out the window as Cage crashed into the side causing the car to flip.
I screamed and I felt a hand grab mine. I turned and looked into Rachel's dull eyes. "I'm sorry." I said squeezing her hand tightly.
"You have nothing to be sorry for Scar." Rachel said as the car hit as tree. My head shot backwards and the darkness claimed me.
Rachel's POV
I opened my eyes straining against the bright light. "Rachel. Nurse!!!" Someone screamed and suddenly I was surrounded by strangers.
"Scarlett? Where's Scarlett?" I asked my voice hoarse due to my dry and itchy throat.
"Rachel you need to conserve your energy. Don't talk okay honey?" Mom asked suddenly coming into my line of vision.
"No. Where is Scarlett?" I demanded feeling a pinch in my arm. I turned to see the nurse removing a needle.
"Rachel you are okay." Mom said looking down at me.
"Mom. What aren't you telling me? Where is Scarlett?" I asked trying to sit up as the drowsiness tried to consume me. I saw Mom glance across at my Dad with worried eyes.
"She's out right now. We told her to go home and change her clothes." Mom said clearly lying.
"He took her, didn't he? That son of a bitch pushed us off the side of the road and then took her! She was hurt worse than I was!" I screamed causing the medicine to completely stop working.
"What?" Kate asked stepping into the room. I looked over at her confused face. "Rachel there was only two cars in the wreck. A red Mercedes-Benz and my car. And Rachel wasn't found on the scene or near the scene." Kate said causing me to shake my head.
"No. The car that rammed us was a black sedan." I disagreed with her.
"Rachel the facts point to that this was a two car crash and a black sedan wasn't a part of it." Kate said looking down at me.
"You're wrong. You know Scarlett's case it said that there wasn't any witnesses but there was. You. Sometimes facts as you call them can be wrong." I said feeling my eyes start to droop.
"Rachel. Know what you are right. There could be some mistakes in this case. Who was driving the black sedan?" Kate asked as I relaxed against the hard bed.
"Cage. It was Cage." I answered allowing my self to drift away. I heard the drone of voices as they lured me into a deep sleep.
Kate's POV
Cage. It was Cage.
The thought ran through my mind over and over again. "Kate are you okay?" Isaac asked as I tried to shake away the thought.
I nodded and kept my head down knowing that he would know I was lying if I looked up at him. "Kate. We will find her. We found her last time. We will do it again." Isaac said and I looked up at him.
"How do you know that? Huh? Last time they messed up. But this time it's just Cage. Cage is too smart. For all I know Scarlett's dead and it's my fault." I said pushing away from the desk and standing.
"Kate this isn't your fault. How can you even say that?" Isaac asked looking down me.
"She was driving my car. And I'm the one who made the decision to not go after him. It's my fault Isaac. There's nothing that can change that." I said looking up as the door opened.
"Detective! We have a possible sighting!" The cop yelled excitedly.
"Well what are you waiting on? Where was they seen?" I asked staring at him.
"Here." He said causing me to gasp. He stepped farther in and closed the door.
"What do you mean here?" I asked stepping closer to him. The door slowly opened and I looked up.
"Help me Kat." Scarlett pled her eyes rolling back in her head. I ran forward and caught her as she fell.
"Call an ambulance!!" I screamed lifting her into my arms. I heard scrambling behind me as I ran out the room.
