Kate's POV

"So when are you going to start explaining?" Isaac asked as we sped down the road.

"Oh I forgot. Well turns out Scarlett called Rachel. She thought that she was calling her mom but she wasn't there. Anyways she's in California." I said as we crossed the state line.

"Where at in California?" Isaac asked making a good point. I slowed the car a bit.

"Well this morning they left The Grand Hotel. So we can just stop there and ask around to see if anybody saw where they went." I said as the hotel came into view.

"Kate you do realize that they could be anywhere by now, right?" Isaac asked grimly.

"So much for a positive attitude." I muttered under my breath. "Yes I do realize that. But if we think positive we can and will find her." I said louder so he could actually hear me.

"You are too positive. What are you going to do if we can't find them? I know that you won't give up." Isaac said as I turned to look at him.

"We will find them." I said getting out of the car and walking towards the entrance. Isaac opened the door for me.

I walked to the front desk and saw a young man sitting there. "Hi." I said and he looked up, he didn't look to happy.

"Hi. What do you want?" He asked looking back at the computer screen.

"I want to ask you some questions do you mind?" I asked pulling out my phone.

"Yes I do min. Why would I want to help you people if you people won't even look for my phone?" He asked looking back up at me.

"Well we aren't from the state. So have you seen this man?" I ask showing him a sketch of Cage.

"Yeah. He stayed here last night." He answered staring at the photo.

"Was this woman with him?" I asked pulling up an old picture of Scarlett.

"Yeah but she looked older." He answered as I put the phone back in my pocket.

"Why are you asking all these questions?" He asked turning back to his work.

"Could you tell me anything about them?" I asked ignoring his question.

"No. Not really. The girl was a little off. I walked up to her and tried to have a conversation but she just asked where she was. I mean what kind of person doesn't know where they are?" He asked taking so drink of his coffee.

"The kind that has been held captive for fourteen years." I answered and his head shot up to look at me.

"What?" He stuttered.

"The girl her name was Scarlett Hale. She was kidnapped fourteen years ago. Now is there any thing else you can tell me?" I asked brushing my hair out of my face.

"Well she walked with a limp. When the guy saw us talking he glared at us. Oh and she's a good pickpocket." He answered as I stared at him.

"What did she take?" I asked hoping it was something traceable.

"My cell phone." He answered running a hand through his hair.

"Do you have the GPS tracking app?" I asked looking down at him hopefully. He nodded as I pulled my phone back out. "Could you give me your ID number?" I asked pulling up my notepad.

"Sure."  He said writing down a bunch of numbers on a sheet of paper. "Here. One question before you go. Will I get my phone back?" He asked handing me the paper.

"If when we find her she still has it you will get it back. If not you get the satisfaction of saving her life." I answered walking away from him.

I got into the car and saw Isaac walking toward it. I had forgotten that he was with me. "Did you get anything useful?" He asked buckling up.

"Yeah. Do you have the tracking app on your phone?" I asked and he nodded. "Put this ID in." I said handing him the paper.

He quickly entered it and pulled up a map. "It looks like you need to go right and stay on the road going straight." Isaac said as I pulled out.

"How far away are they?" I asked pushing the gas pedal to the floor.

"We are forty minutes behind them." He answered looking at the phone. "But with us driving this fast we are twenty minutes away." He added holding onto the dash.

"Give me a five minute warning." I said pulling my hair into a bun as he grabbed onto the steering wheel. I grabbed a cap and a pair of sunglasses hoping that they wouldn't be able to recognise me.

I grabbed the wheel and Isaac let it go. "Isaac there is a wig in the back seat. Put it on." I demanded looking down at the app. Ten minutes away. I slowed down a little as I realized that I was the only person on the road.

"How do I look?" Isaac asked and I turned to look at him.

"You make a great girl." I said holding back a laugh as he flipped his long blond hair. I saw a black sedan up in front of us. "Is that them?" I asked as Isaac looked down at his phone and nodded.

"Kate do you have a plan here?" Isaac asked looking at me. I shake my head.

"Do you?" I ask hopefully.

"Just follow behind him for a bit. See if he tries to escape." Isaac suggested and I took it.

They acted like any other car on the road would. They didn't speed up or slow down. Looking through their back glass I made out the shapes of two figures.

A guy and a girl. The girl had her head resting on the window. And the guy was watching me through the mirror. I sent up a prayer hoping that he wouldn't recognize us. I do t have good luck because he sped up.

"Follow them!!" Isaac screamed as I stomped on the gas. We sped down the road after them.
