Kate's POV
I watched as Scarlett gave her mother a hug before the police officer took her away. "Kat you wasn't supposed to leave the hospital. Dylan and I were worried sick. He went to his house and I came here looking for you." Isaac whispered in my ear..
"Isaac. I'm paralyzed not helpless. Plus I had Scarlett with me. We caught the last person involved. It's really over this time." I said changing the subject.
"Wasn't that her mother though? I mean why would her mother do this to her?" Isaac asked pushing me into my office.
"Because about twenty-five years ago this changed. Lisa was in an accident and believed dead. She woke from a coma with no memory. She assumed a name and she met Dustin who knew her instantly. But he lied through their whole marriage and in the end she killed him for it." I answered tiredly.
"Kate you need rest. I thought you would get some at the hospital but you up and left. Shit I have to call Dylan." Isaac said pulling out his phone. He scrolled through his contacts before calling the number.
"Dylan. They are here. Kate's fine now just tired." Isaac said and I could hear what sounded like screaming on the other end.
"Scarlett's fine too. She needs someone strong right now though. Her mother was the missing part and her father is dead. I think you should get here soon." Isaac said before hanging up the phone.
"Is he coming?" I asked worried for my brother. Isaac nodded as the door opened and Scarlett walked in.
"Scar are you okay?" I asked and she nodded sinking into the chair next to me.
"I know why I couldn't remember. I didn't want to remember that it was her. She was supposed to be the one to save me when I was down but she caused me the harm." Scarlett said as tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Scar. It will be okay. I promise. Your mother loves you just as you love Taylor and Joshua." I said trying to comfort her.
"I'm not going to be able to take care of them both. I was thinking about letting Isabelle and Henry adopt Joshua. They've both bonded with him and they will make wonderful parents." Scarlett said looking to me for approval.
"Scar do what you think is right for everybody involved. It won't hurt to ask. But Scarlett don't feel as if you owe everyone something because it keeps you from living your life." I said reaching out and grasping her hand as Dylan walked into the office.
"Scar." His voice coming out a whisper as she jumped up and ran into his open arms. I smiled as they walked out together.
"Isaac. Let's go home." I said and he nodded before pushing me out to the parking lot.
"Kate. I got a crew to take care of your house. They said since it was mostly smoke damage it should be ready by the end of the week. I booked a hotel room for the rest of the week." Isaac said helping me into the car.
"That's fine." I said as I saw the captain run out of the building.
"Kate Brian!" He screamed when he came to a stop next to me. "You have been through a lot. I understand that but you are slacking in your duties. I'm afraid that I have to let you go." He said not looking sorry at all if anything he looked relieved.
"Actually I sent in my resignation this morning. So you can't actually fire me." I said with a smirk as he looked as if he was going to blow a gasket. "Well it was nice talking to you. See you around." I said pulling my door closed before he could say anything else.
Isaac got in next to me shaking his head but I could tell that he was about to lose it. "Isaac. Don't let him worry you. His bark is worse than his bite. He's been threatening me for years." I said as we pulled onto the the busy highway.
"I know. His secretary told me that as soon as I showed up for my interview. But he was in a good mood when I met him. I had my job within five minutes." Isaac said smiling.
"Isaac. Since I no longer work there you will need to find a partner that you know you can trust." I said suddenly worried he would get a bad partner like I did when I first started working there.
"Actually Kate, I took off for the next two months that way I can help you adjust to your new lifestyle. It's already been processed and approved so there isn't anything to argue about." Isaac said not giving me a chance to say anything.
"Okay. That's one of the sweetest things that anybody has ever done for me before." I said reaching over and holding his hand. His face lit up like a little kid in a candy store. He pulled into the hotel parking lot and parked before leaning over and kissing me.
"Now let's get you into bed. You need some sleep. Plus you can rest easy now without having to worry about Scarlett." Isaac said getting out of the car. He walked around to my side and leaned down and picked me up.
"What about the chair?" I asked as he used his hip to close the door.
"This is the one way to make sure you don't leave the bed without my permission. You are officially under bed rest." Isaac said and my jaw dropped and I noticed people were turning to stare at us.
"You can't control me. One day I will move around on my own again and you'll see. A girl like me can't be controlled." I said through gritted teeth as we entered the bedroom.
"I don't want to control you. I want you to heal completely because I love you." Isaac said placing me on the bed.
"I love you too Isaac. Now get out so I can get some sleep." I said throwing my shoe at him.
