My Dreams

What I wanted to aspire to be

What child didn't color their days away

What child didn't want to say

I will grow up doing this till I can do it all day

But now I say

Younger me you have grown up

That dream you chased no longer adds up

I wanted to help others so being a nurse seemed great

Until one day in Health class

We learned about fractured legs

Younger me you have grown up

That dream you chased no longer adds up

I wanted to be an explorer who would find

Extinct creatures of all kinds

And travel on adventures without

The worries of the world you left

That is until I found that our earth has been navigated through and through

And plane cost skyrocket too

Younger me you have grown up

That dream you chased no longer holds up

Yet don't let these old dreams get you down

Your dreams may have at one time or another fallen in vain

But a new one rises high each day

Work hard and see if any of those paths lead

To a dream that you can make a reality.
