Her job begins before the sun rises
She gets up and starts her day
She creates, making breakfast for her children
She wears a shining smile as she watches us eat the food she toiled over
Though a thank you does not escape our lips
She can tell that we were content
For her job is thankless or at least the work she does needs no thanks
She loves to watch you grow knowing that her love has helped you do so
The sickening thud of the laundry in the basket calls for her attention for an hour or more
Washing, drying, and then folding just for them to come back stained
Your work is not done because it is nearly noon and once again you must prepare food for those she loves
After she cooks she cleans the floor two times maybe more
And she wipes the counters thrice
And she sits only to stand moments later
The sound of a child crying has her out the door in moments
Caring for the child even though her work piles up all the higher
Watching her struggle makes me feel dizzy
Yet no one else can fulfill her tasks
Nor does she hate doing what she loves
For she is raising her sons and daughters
To work hard and care for others
Anyone who sits at her table is family
And she blushes with enjoyment as she watches you eat happily
Only to be left with a mountain of dishes seconds later
No job in the world is as important than hers
Just watch her work!
Her job isn't even over yet
She still has dinner to make and children to tuck in for the night
This may perhaps end at twilight
Unless she is called to help another
She doesn't care about herself and always puts you first
Too bad you realize it only when you grow to leave her side
Try thanking her before you recognize too late
For your Mother brought you into this life
She shared her wisdom and insight
Did it go unnoticed like her work?
She isn't just a housewife she is also a Mother
And to her, that is all that matters.
