I pulled away. "Excuse me?"
He brushed the hair out of my face. "Well, now that you're my mate, you're going to be giving up with the pack warrior training. I mean, its too dangerous for you to be out there. And I need you here. Where you're safe."
The boy was an idiot. Without saying another word, I got up off the bed, and walked out of the room. I just kept shaking my head, even as he called my name.
As I walked into the living room, James looked up at me and I just shook my head. That's all I could do. I sat down on the sofa opposite him and grabbed a book. That's when Damien walked in.
"Emmy, what the hell was that about?"
I just ignored him, very focused on my book.
"Emmy?" Silence. "Oh come on Emmy. You're really going to ignore me?" I tried to block out his voice.
He sighed. "Will you just tell me what the hell I did that has pissed you off?"
I rolled my eyes. He might have been my mate, but he was dense.
"James, help me out here."
James was looking at me, but I was reading. "Well, what did you say to her?"
"Nothing. I was just talking about the future and she got up and left. Now she won't speak." He sounded annoyed. Like he had a right to be annoyed. I had a right.
"What did you say exactly? She might have taken offence to something stupid." I looked up from my book to shoot him a glare. He raised his eyesbrows. "Or she is annoyed about something completely outrageous, and is justified in ignoring you."
I looked back down at my book.
Damien ran his hand through his hair. "I said how great this was, how she was perfect for being a Luna, how she wouldn't have to take part in warrior training anymore, how-"
"Wait. You said she wouldn't be taking part?"
He nodded. "Well yeah. She's going to be Luna. She can't be out fighting rogues."
James gave him a flat look. He then turned to me. "Emmy, keep up the silence. You have every right to be pissed."
"God, thanks James." Damien sounded angry. My wolf didn't like the thought that we were annoying our mate but I pushed her back. He didn't seem to be all that bothered about annoying me.
I felt Damien kneeling down beside me. I tried not to react as I felt his breath on my neck. He was playing dirty now.
"Babe, just tell me what's wrong. I hate when you're mad at me." His voice was so soft I almost melted. Almost.
Without looking at him, I stood up and walked back upstairs, using all the will power I had.
"Emmy! God, just talk to me." I knew I was being petty. But it was my life.
I slammed my bedroom door shut and locked it. This resulted in him banging on it. Loudly.
I rolled my eyes and very quietly creeped over to the window. I slid it open, and climbed out on to the ledge. There were people in the garden, watching as I grabbed the drain pipe and carefully climbed down. I landed as gracefully as possible and smiled to myself.
I then looked over at the two guys throwing a football around. "If Damien asks, I was never here." And with that, I took off running towards the trees. I felt better already.
-
An hour. That's how much peace I got before Damien started driving me insane. I had always prided myself on being able to block the mind-link. But Damien was testing me. Because we were mates, he had a different link with me. A better one.
