I had never seen a fighter like her. She really was something else. She had the strength of any male, and had more skill than most of the rogues in this pack.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by a knock on the door. I growled. "What?"
My Beta, Connor, walked in. "Declan, we've got some information about the girl. And Shannon wants to talk to you about the bullets."
I rubbed my temples. "Fine. I'll go down to Shannon now. Tell me about the girl on the way."
He nodded and handed me a file. "We've found out she's the Beta's daughter, named Emaline Hunter. She's the first ever female pack warrior. She was the one who killed our five rogues you sent to capture the alpha's daughter."
I raised my eyebrows. "The same girl? This is very interesting."
He nodded again. "Her condition since you shot her has been fine. The bullet barely affected her. That's what Shannon needs to discuss with you. It didn't do anything."
I growled. "God dammit. We need to fix that. We need those bullets if we're going to take that pack."
"I know Declan, we'll fix it."
We fell into silence as we made our way downstairs, and into the basement. We passed the cells, where our prisoners shrank back. They were afraid of us. As they should be.
We finally made it to the back room. I pushed open the door and was greeted with Shannon's beautiful face. She was nothing to the Emaline girl, but she was satisfactory enough.
"Shannon. How are things?"
Her blue eyes sparkled, and she beamed at me. Her body was covered in blood, not her own. Around the room, there was crying, screaming and whimpering. As much as I loved torture, the noise was awful.
"Which ones have you been testing today?"
She pointed to three boys. Each was chained to the wall, and had bullet wounds in their sides. They gave me pathetic looks and I laughed.
"You work so hard Shannon. But what's this I hear about the bullets not working properly?"
Her smile fell. "Well, we have been shotting each of our test subjects in the chest, close to the heart. This means that the wolfs bane got to their heart and they died. But, as we saw with this girl when shot farther from the heart. It isn't fatal."
I sighed. "That's disappointing."
I walked over, grabbed her by the neck, and slammed her back against the wall. "You know, I picked you for this because I was told you were the best. And I need the best. Now, are you going to fix this and be the best? Or am I going to have to dispose of you?" My voice was low and sinister.
I saw Connor shrink back from me. He may have been my Beta, but he should still fear me.
"I'll. I'll fix it." She just about choked out.
I smiled and released her. "Good girl."
She nodded and, keeping her head low, walked back over to her table. I sighed. and reached for her. I placed my arm around her waist.
"Now Shannon, you know I only do this to make you the best you can be. I don't like failure, okay?"
"I know Alpha."
I smiled and hugged her. "Good, now how are we going to fix this?"
She moved away from me, picking up a bullet. "If we can insert the wolfs bane inside the bullet, when it makes contact with the body, it will explode out and leach on to anything it hits. It will enter the body cells from there and kill within seconds."
I clapped. "Perfect. You get working on that, and I want results soon."
She nodded. Connor and I then left and headed back upstairs.
"How are the training sessions going?"
"Good Declan. Everyone has fallen into place and I am pushing them to their limits."
I clapped his shoulder. "Good. Keep it up."
He nodded and headed outside. I headed back to my office.
Once in there, I grabbed the folder about this Emaline Hunter. A strong Beta's daughter. And a pack warrior. She was exactly who I was looking for. Now I just needed to presuade her to my thinking.
I smirked.
Persuasion was my specialty.
****
I hope you like this bonus chapter. I decided to add it in to advance the story a bit, and to add in some foreshadowing.
I'll be adding another chapter some time today as well.
