The great thing about having friends with mates was that you could hang out with friends while still having a double date with your mate.

Currently, me, Damien, Raven and Greg were out on a double date.

Raven and Greg had been together for three weeks and I could already see a big change in him. It made me happy that he was happy.

Deciding to try out my new rollerblades, Damien had taken all of us to a roller rink. The only problem was that he was the only one who could skate.

Raven had given up after falling a couple hundred times, so her and Greg were playing the various games.

But Damien was determined to teach me to rollerblade.

"Ok, you got your balance yet?"

I gulped. "No. So don't let go."

He chuckled. He was skating behind me, his hands around my waist and holding me up. I was fine for a bit, but then I'd just fall, so he had to hold me. Not that he was complaining.

"You're doing well. You just need to have a bit more confidence."

I rolled my eyes. "I am confident. Confident that I will fall on my ass if you let go."

He laughed and I elbowed him in the stomach. He might have been helping me, but that didn't give him the right to laugh at me.

"Right, I'm going to let you go."

My eyes widened. "No Damien! I'm sorry. Don't let go!"

I tried to grab his hands to keep him near me, but he was too quick. His hands left my waist and I felt him move from behind me. Suddenly he was in front of me.

"Damien! I'm going to fall."

I was trying to stay as still as possible, so I didn't trip or anything.

"Think of this like running. Except there are wheels on your shoes."

I glared at him. "That doesn't help."

He just chuckled and took off skating. I was stiff, not daring to move much. Slowly, I moved my weight to my right foot, and then to my left. And weirdly, I started moving. I held my breath as I moved forward.

I laughed as I picked up a bit of speed. There were people skating around me that were flying, but this was big for me. I kept going, but I wasn't planning on skating around. I just wanted to get to the exit.

I moved there slowly, but managed to get off the rink without falling. Once I got to a bench, I pulled off the skates, sighing as I felt firm ground under my feet.

Damien showed up not long after. He smirked at me. "Had enough?"

I glared. "Yes. Maybe next time, let's not throw me in the deep end."

He chuckled. "Okay babe. But you were doing pretty good."

I rolled my eyes. "Come on, I'm starving. Let's find Raven and Greg."

We wondered around, hand in hand until we eventually found Greg sitting on a bench looking bored.

"Where's Raven?"

He sighed. "Bathroom. Emmy can you go find out what's up? She's been in there for ages."

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, I'll be back in a minute."

I wondered into the bathroom, finding Raven humming as she fixed her makeup. I hopped up on to the sink beside her.

"Greg's worried you fell down the toilet."

She snickered. "That boy worries about everything. I never thought I would be in a relationship where I was the more laid back one."

I smiled. "How's it going anyway? You look a lot happier."

She beamed at me. "I am. Everything has been perfect for the last few months. People have stopped bullying me, I've got friends and an amazing mate. And all because I met you."

"Yeah, I just make everyone's lives better. I'm just awesome."

She laughed. "But seriously, thanks Emmy. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't met you."

I shrugged. "These things happen for a reason. Now come on, before they think we ditched them."

She nodded and we left the bathroom, finding the boys playing a video game. I rolled my eyes. Of course. Raven walked over, wrapping her arms around Greg's waist. He turned and smiled down at her.

I walked over to Damien, letting him wrap his arm around my waist, and stepped into his side.

"Okay, who's ready for food?"

We all nodded and headed for the fast food place in the rink.

Greg and Damien stood in line while me and Raven found a table. We were talking and laughing when a woman with a baby walked past. I turned and smiled. That was so cute.

"I still can't believe how big Lisa is getting."

I turned back to Raven and smiled. "Yeah, it's so weird to think she's going to be a mom. But she'll be amazing. She was born to be a mother. I am happy to leave it for a while."

Raven nodded but sighed. "Yeah but we don't have a lot of choice in the matter. It's gonna happen eventually. I'm just hoping I get a couple of years first."

I nodded, but was hit by a weird realisation. Quickly doing the math in my head, I couldd feel my stomach sinking.

That's when Damien and Greg came over with the food. A burger and fries was placed in front of me, but I suddenly had no appetite.

No one noticed much as I tried to act normal. But in my head, I was freaking out. My mind was racing, and despite my best efforts, I couldn't calm down.

We didn't stay long after that. We climbed into Damien's car and drove back to the pack house. By now I knew Damien was suspicious. He kept shotting me worried glances from the corner of his eye.

As he pulled up, I hopped out of the car and headed inside. I felt ill, and I was sweating as my body temperature skyrocketed. I rushed into the kitchen, grabbing a glass and filling it with water. I gulped down the full glass and then refilled it.

That's when Damien walked in, looking concerned.

"Ok, tell me what's wrong?"

I bit my lip. "It's nothing." I didn't want to tell him if I was wrong. It would either freak him out or get his hopes up. And I didn't know if I wanted either of those options.

I turned and headed out of the kitchen and towards the living room, but he grabbed my arm. I didn't meet his eyes as he turned me to face him.

"Emmy, it's not nothing. Something's wrong and I want to know what." I could see the worry building in his eyes. I hated putting him through this.

I shook my head. "Everything's fine." I tried to plaster a fake smile on my face. "I'm just not feeling very well."

He wasn't buying it. He gave me a flat look, before lifting my chin. I looked straight into his eyes and I knew I couldn't lie to him.

"Emmy, just tell me what's wrong."

Before I even realised what I was doing, I blurted it out.

"My period's late."
