"Stupid parents. Stupid school. Stupid country." I muttered as I took my first steps into the boarding school; Moore Boarding School. You think moving schools is bad? Try moving countries. Alone.

I pulled my luggage to the entrance and was met by a tall, blonde girl. She crossed her arms and forced a smile.

"Rosy Harriet. Pleasure to meet you." She said while sticking her hand out. I glanced down at it before meeting her gaze.

"I'm sorry, I don't shake hands." I said. She raised her eyebrows and smirked.

"Oh, an American girl? That explains a lot." She said with her British accent.

"Well-"

"Rosy!" Someone yelled and pointed behind her. We all turned to see a brunette pull up in a black car with the roof down. Rosy fixed her posture and straightened her blazer.

"Hello, Shawn." She said. He smiled and nodded before driving away.

"Who was that?" I asked. She scoffed and folded her arms across her chest once again.

"That was Shawn Mendes. But you shouldn't talk to him, it's strictly forbidden." She said.

"Are you guys dating?" I asked.

"Well, no-"

"Almost dating?"

"No but-"

"Then I have every right to talk to him." I smiled and walked past her and into the building.

Room 182, 183, 184...
185.

I walked in to see another three girls sat on their beds.

"I'm sorry, is this not my room?" I asked. They looked at each other and laughed.

"It's called a dorm room. We share it." One of them said. I sighed and sat down on my bed before starting to unpack.

There was a knock at the door followed by a few 'come ins'. In walked the boy from earlier. He looked at me in confusion before shaking his head and beginning to talk.

"Dinner is ready, girls. Be down in 5 minutes." He said and closed the door.

"Is there many guys like that?" I asked. They all chuckled and shook their head.

"He'd be the only one," I huffed and followed the girls out and down the stairs.

"Pull your skirt down." One of them whispered as we entered the cafeteria.

"Alright, Alright." I said in defence as I pulled it down. We all stood behind our seats and put our hands together. I expected somebody to say a prayer but we all just closed our eyes for a few seconds. I opened one eye to see the headmistress staring at me. I closed my eyes again after seeing Shawn smirk at me out the corner of my eye.

Dinner was finished and everyone was silent, why did nobody talk in this school?"

"Dinner was exquisite, madam." I said loudly. The girl next to me hit my arm as there were a few sniggers from the background.

We all left out of the exit before I was stopped by somebody. I turned to see Shawn with a smile on his face.

"Nice to see another face that isn't British." He said. He was Canadian.

"Don't be too happy, I'm not staying in this shithole." I said. He chuckled and leaned against the door.

"You're different to everyone else in this school." He said which made me roll my eyes.

"I've heard this all before. I'm not like other girls, blah, blah, blah."

"Shit, Ruby's coming. I'm not here." He said before hiding behind a curtain. I laughed and stood in front of him which wasn't easy to say he was 6ft 3.

"You haven't seen Shawn by any chance, have you?" She asked. I shook my head.

Before she was about to walk away, Shawn did a loud ass cough. I mentally slapped him as I covered it up by coughing even louder. Ruby narrowed her eyes before Shawn put his mouth to his arm and blew a 'raspberry' as the British call it. I cursed under my breath.

"Sorry," I said simply. She scoffed and walked away. I told Shawn it was safe to come out and hit his chest.

"That wasn't funny!" I yelled. He laughed and held my hands in his.

"It kind of was." He said, inching closer to my face. He bit his lip before I pushed his cheeks together.

"I better get going. I don't want to be late for my first lesson." I smiled. He groaned and rolled his eyes.

"Well, I'll see you around." He said.

"Yeah, you too."
