"It was a messy relationship." She chuckled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Was it toxic?" She thought for a moment before shrugging.

"Looking back, I guess you could say so. But we both had the best intentions." She explained softly.

"Explain further." The journalist said while scribbling down some notes.

"Well, I'll give you one example."

"Hey! You came!" A boy slurred, wrapping his arms around her small body.

"Of course I did!" She chuckled and guided him to a table.

"Where's that Shawn of yours?" He stuttered. She looked around before softly shrugging.

"I'm not sure, I'll find him," she said before leaving the boy with his friends.

"Hey!" She turned around and saw one of Shawns close friends waving at her. He was clearly drunk by the way he was stumbling around and slurring all his words.

"Jack, hey." She smiled and he engulfed her in a hug.

"How are you? How have you been? Are you Well?" He yelled over the loud music. She chuckled and nodded.

"I'm good, thank you. How are you?" She replied.

"I'm amazing!" He yelled loudly. He kept his arm loosely round her shoulder and sighed. "You look great tonight," He slurred in her ear.

"You're drunk." She laughed as he shook his head.

"No, I'm not!" He said in defence, staring at her in awe.

"Come on, Jack. I just need to find Shawn." She said with a sigh, trying to dodge his kiss.

"He's upstairs kissing that girl." He shouted. She furrowed her eyebrows and looked up at the drunk boy in front of him.

"What girl?" She asked slowly. As soon as those words left her mouth, she could see him coming downstairs with a girl, laughing and smiling. Her face dropped as they both made eye contact. She grabbed jacks drink and drank every last drop of it before wrapping her arms around his neck. Jack grinned and they both leant in.

They both pulled apart and she looked back towards Shawn who had pushed the girl against the wall and was slowly kissing her. Jack followed her stare and gasped.

"Oh, shit."

Present

"What happened after that?" The journalist asked.

"We both yelled for hours. He called me every name under the sun, and so did I. We were both just trying to one up each other with everything we'd say. It was a competition on who could get the last word." She laughed slightly.

"Did any part of you enjoy the arguing and yelling?" She asked.

"I guess it was the adrenaline. The rush of it all. We were up in the early hours just yelling and screaming at each other. We would often get noise complaints from our neighbours, but it didn't stop anything." She explained.

"Do you miss this boy?" She closed her eyes briefly and nodded.

"Of course I miss him. When people talk about past relationships, my mind goes straight to him. He was my favourite ex." She smiled.

"Thank you so much for your time, Y/N. This is probably the best interview yet!" The interviewer said before standing up.

"Thank you, too." They both engulfed each other in a small hug before exiting the room. That was the first time she had publicly spoke up about the relationship. It was well needed, in some ways; that was her closure.
