"You didn't want to wait for me," he said, clearing his throat. "A few months - that's all I needed." He told her. She looked at him with sympathy and sighed.

"I couldn't wait any longer." She spoke softly. He nodded, understanding what she was telling him. She was right; and he couldn't argue with that.

"I just wasn't ready for you. I thought I was, but I really wasn't." He chuckled softly. She placed her hands on top of his and smiled.

"Believe me, I know." She joined in with his laughter. "You were a kid back then, you just had a little growing up to do." She explained to him.

"It's so frustrating. Looking back on what I should've done, and imagining what I would do now." He said, shaking his head softly.

"If you could go back," she began. "Would you?" She asked him. He looked at her and nodded without hesitation.

"I hate the fact that I can't. The day you left, i wished every day that I could somehow go back in time and fix everything." He said.

"It's sad that we happened when we did." She spoke quietly.

"I know, trust me." He nodded in agreement. "All it took was a few years, and I got my shit together." He told her.

"Did you really think I'd wait a few years for you to grow up?" She asked, raising her eyebrows slightly. He sighed and shook his head.

"No, of course not." He shrugged. "We were good though, eh?" He smirked. She chuckled and nodded.

"We were great." She smiled. "It's just a shame how it ended."

"I know. I've learned so much since then. When you left it gave me thinking time. And I realised how much of an ass I was to you." He explained sadly.

"People change. In some ways, I think it's a good thing we ended. We both had some growing up to do, and I think we've both done that in the last year or so." She said with a small smile.

"I agree, at least now we both know what we want." He said with a bit of hope.

"I guess we do." She sighed. "I just never expected you to mature, it's kind of weird seeing you like this." She said, half jokingly.

"You and me both." He laughed. She checked the time on her watch before standing up.

"Well, it's been nice catching up. I have to get going now, but I wish you the best." She told him. He stood up and engulfed her into a hug, kissing the top of her head.

"Good luck for the future." He whispered softly in her ear. She thanked him before kissing his cheek and turning swiftly on her heels.

He watched as she walked away for the second time. Except this time, he had a little hope in him.
