{Y/N's POV}
"Babe, I go every New Years Eve. It's family tradition." I explained to Shawn."But you'll be gone for two weeks! I don't think I can cope for that long." He spread his whole body out on the couch dramatically. I straddled his torso and placed multiple kisses on his face.
"You're cute," I kissed him once more before hopping off.
"Let me come with you." He said, making me laugh.
"Shawn, you can't meet my family. Not my whole family, at least." I said.
"Why?" He whined.
"Because my family is...huge."
"So? Please let me go, Y/N. I want to meet your family." He begged.
"Alright, I'll ask." I gave in. He grinned and thanked me before I grabbed my phone.

"Mija! You made it," my mom gushed and walked over to me and Shawn. I greeted her with a hug before she turned to Shawn.
"Nice to see you again, Shawn." She brought him into a hug and Shawn handed her the flowers he insisted on buying. I told him it wasn't necessary but he really wanted to.
"Thank you, love. Come on everyone's in the garden." My mom brought a vase out as I guided Shawn outside. He squeezed my hand as my aunt and uncle came to greet us.
"Y/N, how have you been?" I hugged them both and they both looked Shawn up and down.
"I've been good, this is Shawn. Shawn this is my aunt and uncle." I introduced them both. Shawn shook both of their hands with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, son." My uncle nodded. We talked some more before they went to greet the new family members that just arrived.
"Tell me why you didn't want me to come again?" Shawn whispered.
"Alright, mr confident. Let's see how you handle my tío and abuello." I smirked.
"What's tío and abuelo?" He asked. I simply smiled and called them over.
"Y/N! Cómo estás?" My uncle asked.
"Estoy bien." I replied. I looked over to see a very confused Shawn.
"Tío, abuello, this is my boyfriend Shawn." I said. They both gave Shawn a cold look up and down which made Shawn squeeze my hand tighter.
"So, Shawn. Let's go grab a drink," My grandfather said.
"Oh, uh I'm 20, sir," Shawn stuttered.
"The age here is 18, you've got nothing to worry about." He patted Shawn on the back as they disappeared into the crowd of relatives. (I don't know if the legal age is 18 but that's what it is where I'm from so I just guessed)
Around half an hour later Shawn appeared and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"I love you," he said and kissed my cheek.
"I love you too," I smiled.
"What was my grandfather saying?" I asked. Shawn smirked and kissed the tip of my nose.
"Don't worry about it," before I could ask anymore questions my mom appeared from the kitchen.
"Campfire!" My mom yelled. Everyone cheered and I guided Shawn to the fire pit in the middle of the garden. We sat down on a log and waited for everyone else to be seated.
"This is my favourite part," I told Shawn. "It's where we all tell stories and roast marshmallows." I explained. I grabbed Shawn a stick and he placed on a few marshmallows before sticking it over the fire.
"So, Shawn." My dad began. Shawn's head shot up as he finished eating his marshmallow.
"Yes, sir?" He asked.
"Somebody told me you played the guitar and you sing," he said. Shawn glanced at me before I mouthed a 'sorry'. He chuckled and shook his head.
"Um, yes I do. I've just released my second album," Shawn explained.
"Well, I just so happen to have a guitar." My dad smirked.
"I'm sure nobody would want to hear me play," everyone disagreed, urging him to play. He finally gave in and took the guitar out of my dads hand.
"What should I play?" He asked. A few suggestions were thrown before we all decided on Sweater Weather. Shawn strummed to make sure the guitar was in tune before playing the introduction.
He began singing and everyone instantly stopped talking to listen to him.
He finished the song and everyone cheered, resulting in him grinning ear to ear. Shawn went to give it back to my dad but he stopped him.
"Keep it," My dad said.
"What? No, it's an expensive make." Shawn said.
"Really, Shawn. I've never played it in my life." He said.
"Are you sure?" He chuckled and nodded. Shawn thanked him before staring at the guitar in awe.
"He must really like you. He never even remembered my last boyfriends' names," I mumbled to him. Shawn smiled and wrapped his arms around my waist, leaning his head on my shoulder.
Shawn was strumming random tunes on his guitar as I rested my head on his shoulder. He kissed my forehead before continuing the tune.
I listened as my family members talked to Shawn in Spanish, Shawn not understanding any of it. I chuckled and looked at Shawn's confused face before he simply nodded.
"Well, it's getting late. We should probably get going." My aunt said before standing up. The rest of their family followed behind as they said their goodbyes.
"We should probably set off too," I said. Me and Shawn stood up and said goodbye to my family.
"Goodbye, mija," I hugged my mom. "And make sure you keep this one," she whispered and let me go. I smiled at her and hugged everybody else.
"That went better than I thought," I said. Shawn smirked and wrapped his arm around my waist.
"What can I say? Families love me,"
