*Kyrie's P.O.V*
I woke up screaming.
"What's wrong, Kyrie?", Soda asked busting into the door.
"I had another dream. The first one in a while. It was the same one I had when it was five months after Pone.", I answered. It's been three years. I'm now seventeen and changed a lot since the accident. I haven't dated anyone since Pony. I am very faithful to Pony, and the promise I made him when he gave me the ring. Every guy in Tusla is trying to hook up with me and I have a reputation that went from "Ponyboy's girl" to "Dally's sexy kid sister". Ms. Brown never saw me again after our little "meeting." I had dropped out of school. Dally finally let me go to parties at Buck's with him. He must want me to mingle, but I only go to drink the pain away.
Everyone's the same. Two-Bit still watches Mickey, Steve still likes chocolate cake, Soda still likes drage races, Darry still works on roofing, Dally still hooks up with every girl in Tulsa, and Johnny still needs the gang. That guy, Wayne, moved to Chicago after the funeral. I didn't care, though.
"Kyrie, you have mail!", Darry called for me from the living room. I walked in and grabbed the envelope that wrote "Kyrie".
"Who's this from?", I asked.
"It might be a smart thing to open it and find out.", Two-Bit said. I gave him a death stare as I tore open the envelope. Inside was a note.
Hello Ms. Winston,
Inside there is a ticket to an Elvis Presley concert. Show up. I'll be there. Don't worry I'm a greaser, if you don't want to show up by yourself, bring Sodapop Curtis.
~Anonymus
"What does it say?", Steve asked.
"It says to be at an Elvis Presley concert tonight. I can bring Soda if I want.", I answered.
"Why Soda?", He asked.
"I don't know that's what the note said.", I answered.
"What time does it start?", Soda asked.
"At five. The note even came with two tickets.", I answered.
Five rolled around and Soda and I awkwardly stood around at the Elvis concert.
"I wonder who could've sent you that letter.", Soda said.
"I do, too.", I replied. We looked every where for someone who could be a possible suspect. No one.
"Might as well enjoy the concert.", Soda smiled.
"You got that right.", I replied. The show started off with Jailhouse Rock. It was the last song of the show and Elvis began to talk before it.
"This song was a request from a guy to the love of his life.", Elvis said. As the music began I instantly recongnize the song. Can't Help Falling In Love.
"Soda, this was mine and Pony's song when he was alive.", I said.
"Maybe it's a sign that he's looking down at you or something.", Soda responded. I felt a lump in my throat.
"Soda, I can't be here. Please can we leave.", I begged tugging on his arm. He gave me a crooked smile and we left. As we were walking out, this guy had this look. A type of look where I wanted to keep starring at him. He noticed me starring and smiled. His smile was so unique and I just couldn't put my finger on where I had seen it before.
At the house, I sat in Pony's room and just thought about that mystery guy. He was beautiful. So familular.
The next morning I woke up fine. No nightmares or anything. I went into the bathroom and took my medicine. Might as well do my hair and make up. My hair was long and wavy, so I left it alone. My make-up was dark. Black eyeshadow, eye liner, and some mascara. I put on a black tank top with some black high waisted shorts and guess what? My black leather jacket. I figured since I looked all depressing I would go look at Ponyboy's grave.
I snuck out of the house without anyone knowing, but left a note. First, I checked the mailbox. I found another letter addressed to me.
Kyrie,
Thanks for showing up last night. You're so beautiful. Now, I know you seem confused, but this is kind of like a treasure hunt. I want to make my presence a surpirise. Now, go to the DX at around 3. I'll be there.
~Annonymus.
"Wow, creep, I ain't got nothing better to do at 3. Might as well go.", I said to myself.
I made it to the grave site. I went to a grave that said, "In loving memory of Ponyboy Michael Curtis".
"Oh Pony, I would give anything to be with you. I heard our song last night at an Elvis concert. Some guy said for me and Soda to go. Then, he didn't even come over to us, yet he seen us. He sent another letter. I have no idea who he is.", I spoke to the grave. Someone came behind be and spoke.
"Talking to a rock, too.", he said. I turned and looked up. It was the same guy at the concert.
"Uh, yeah, it's my boyfriend's.", I answered. He chuckled a moment.
"I came here to see my parent's grave.", He said.
"Oh, I'm sorry. If you don't mind me asking, what happened?", I asked.
"Car wreck. Yeah, my brother cried more than anyone in the world", he answered.
"Wow, my boyfriend was kidnapped and killed.", I responded. He gave me a slight smile and walked away.
"That was weird.", I thought to myself. I looked back at Pony's grave and blew it a kiss. On my walk back, I kept thinking at how he talked, how that guy looked. Who was he?
I looked at the time and it was 2:45. I arrived at the DX fifteen minutes early.
"Hey, Kyrie, what's up Little Miss Winston?", Soda asked.
"I got another letter saying to be here at 3.", I answered. 3:00 rolled around and I was called to go in the garage to help Soda out, because girls kept flirting with him. Whenever that happens I have to be "Soda's girlfriend".
"Thanks kid.", he thanked. I went back into the convienence store part that Steve was running and saw no one, expect a guy reading a news paper beside a woman and her kid.
"I guess that guy's a liar.", I mumbled. Dally walked in with some new broad.
"Ah, there she is. Patricia meet my kid sister, Kyrie.", Dally said.
"Oh Dal, she don't look like a kid.", she said in a New Jersey accent.
"I'm only seventeen.", I replied.
"Dally talks about you all the time. He says you've grown up a lot the past three years.", she told me. I smiled and decided to leave the store. I got home and plopped on the couch and sighed.
"What's wrong?", Darry asked, acting fatherly.
"I seen this guy yesterday and I can't figure out where I seen him from.", I answered. Johnny came in and sat beside me.
"Maybe, maybe you've seen him around here.", Johnny said.
"Maybe.", I said in a sleepy whisper and laid my head on Johnny's shoulder.
When I woke up, I was still on the couch with Johnny. His head was resting on my head.
"Johnnycakes, wake up. Go to Po-my room.", I said. He got up and headed that way. I ran in and grabbed an offit though.
I pulled my hair up and did a smokey eye. My outfit was one that Pone absolutely loved. Dark denim jeans with the bottoms cuffed and a v-neck black shirt, with Soda's plaid blue shirt. I added a white bandana and my white Chuck's.
"I love you, Pony.", I whispered to myself. I ran out to the mailbox to see if my "Secret Admirer" wrote me again and sure enough he did.
Kyrie,
You're so beautiful in black. Thanks for going to the DX. Today go to the swings in the park.
~Annonymus.
I sighed, "Here we go again."
