*Asiah's POV*
My phone rings “Elijah I'm glad you finally called--"
“You need to come home right now” Raheem's voice fills my ears
Before I can say anything he starts talking again
“Eli's in the hospital”
“Oh, my god are you serious?”
“Yes”
“We'll be there as soon as possible”
I walk into the hospital with Alexis on my hip she's still asleep I walk over to the nurse station
“Hi, I'm looking for Elijah Jackson”
“And your?”
“His wife” I say lying I'll say anything I have to get to him
“Okay room 401”
“Thank you” I say
“Cute kid” she says
“Thanks”
I walk to the elevator and press the button several times before the doors closes it takes us to the fourth level of the hospital the first room on the left is 401 Raheem is sitting outside the room
He spots me and stand up he doesn't anything he just wraps his arms around me “I'm sorry”
“What? Where Elijah? Is he okay?”
He sniffles “I don't know he's in surgery”
“Surgery?” I ask also dropping Alexis
“What happened?”
“Why don't I take Alexis to the child center?”
“No” I say
He looks at me with like you-don't-trust-me-with-my-own-niece
“Is Victoria here?”
“She's in the room”
I walk into the door Victoria's in a chair crying her eyes with Lauren comforting her
“Didn't I tell--” she looks up at me “Oh, Asiah”
I walk over to her “What happened?”
Victoria stands up and hugs me and kisses my forehead and Alexis' forehead “I'm so glad you guys are alright” she says
“What's going on?”
“Elijah's been shot”
“Shot?” I say
“Why don't I take Alexis?” Lauren suggests
“Okay” I say handing Lauren a sleeping Alexis
I sit in chair because my legs go numb “He's been shot? I don't understand”
Victoria grabs my hand “When Elijah was younger he used to run the streets but--”
“He told me that he gave up that life”
“And he has but Raheem dragged in him into some nonsense”
I don't know what to say or how to feel
The door opens “Are you the Jackson family?” a man in green scrubs asks
“Yes”
“I'm the head surgery here at hospital, Dr. Isles”
“Hi, I'm Elijah's mother”
“How is he?” I blurt out
“And you are?”
“His girlfriend” I say
“Well he's been shot four times, twice in the chest and twice in the stomach, one of the bullets in his chest punctured his lungs and one of the bullets ripped through his stomach”
“And?” I press
“We're got all the bullets and fix up his stomach but as now he's on a breathing machine and he's still unconscious”
“What happen next?”
“There's not much we can do about his lung--”
“You can't do anything?” Victoria asks
“There is a new advancement in medicine there is a possibility that we can fix his lung with a special pieces of machinery placed into the hole where is lung is punctured, it help him breath so that he will then breath on his own again"
“Then do it” Victoria and I say in unison
“It's a very expensive treatment”
“How much?”
“2.1 million dollars”
“That's a lot of money”
“And you have to the treatment in Switzerland”
“I'll pay for it” Raheem says from the door way
“No, you won't hurt this family anymore”
“Victoria I got him into this at least help me get him out”
“I don't to use your blood money to help my son”
Raheem clenches his fist “It isn't blood money”
“Where would you get 2.1 millions dollars?”
His fists loosen “I can't tell where but I can tell you it's clean money”
Victoria eye balls him “And without the treatment what will happen?”
“Mostly like he'll be on the machine for a very long time” Dr. Isles says
“I want to wait until Elijah is awake to make this decision himself”
“Okay, we can do that”
“How long do you think he'll be unconscious”
“It be days, week, or even months until he wakes up”
“Can we see him?”
“I'm afraid not visiting hours are over” Dr. Isles says
“I can't do this” I say getting Alexis from Lauren
“What does that mean?” Raheem says
“I'm not going to sit here while the man I love is dying because you people can't make a decision” I say taking Alexis from Lauren
“You can leave but your not taking her with you” he says trying to take Alexis from me
“I won't let you take my daughter away from me”
“Your not her mother” he says
"You right! I'm not by blood but I'm the one she calls mommy"
"Stop this fighting, I know you don't want to go back to your house so why don't you and Alexis stay with me for awhile" Victoria says
“Okay"
"Are you fuckin' kidding me this broad was about to runaway with your grandchild and you offer her a place to stay instead of yelling at her? she's not family so why are you being so nice to her?' Raheem rambles angrily
"She's family to me" she says
