Finally meeting the best friend :)
William^^I met up with William the next day. I went to his house early in the morning - it was Sunday and thankfully Sassie and I weren't required to go to church anymore.
William's house was slightly bigger than ours. Different design but still had that modern day look about it. I knocked on the door and was greeted by William's mom Katrina.
"Oh, Justin, come on in," Katrina was one to the few people that didn't scowl at me in passing. She generally liked me - mostly because she was as sarcastic as me but simply didn't show it. William was a lot like his mom, but looked like his dad. Black hair, high cheekbones, angled jaw, thick eyebrows. He was a pretty big nerd but somehow passed it off in a normal way.
I opened his door and was immediately hit with a smell that wasn't very pleasant. It was a teenage musk that I had come to associate with my best friend, in equal measures sweat, deodorant and pheromones.
I scrunched my nose and walked over to his window, sliding it open and letting some light into his dusty room.
"Thanks Mom,"
I ignored him and crashed onto the beanbag next to him.
"How's it going?"
William didn't take his eyes off the TV, his fingers wildly smashing buttons. "Pretty shit, can't get passed this bit."
I sighed and held my hand out. I didn't really enjoy video games but I knew enough about them to have a crack at it. Reluctantly, William handed me the controller.
It took me four attempts, but I passed It, handed the controller back to William and grinned smugly.
"Get over yourself."
I laughed, "Oh don't be like that, you sore loser!"
"You're an ass. Shut up." He took a sip of concoction sitting next to him - probably one part piss and three parts redbull. He aaahed after swallowing, "So how's things with Allison?"
I sighed. I knew this would come up and yet I hadn't thought about what I would say. What could I say? Yeah, I'm going to date her in hope that she'll turn me straight, it's a good idea, I'll fall for her and no one will ever have to know. That was literal suicide.
"I'm thinking of making it official." I settled with at last.
His eyebrows raised, "Oh?"
"Yeah," I took out my phone, opening up my instagram. "I don't know man, she's kind of perfect." It wasn't a lie, really. Allison was pretty perfect. She had the looks, the smarts, the heart.
She was the dream girl.
And I would fall for her. I had to.
William snickered, "One date and you're already whipped."
"Two dates."
He scoffed, "The movies was no more than a hangout. Really, I don't know why you let Erik sit with you, must've been a mood killer."
I laughed, putting my hand on my chest, "It's just my pure heart reaching out to help others."
William shook his head in disbelief, "You're full of shit."
I laughed and Will soon joined. It was nice. I had missed this. He was a good friend, had been since we were four. His mom was virtually my mom and mine his - even though Katrina was much more favored by the both of us.
"What's been going on with you anyway? What was the fake sickness all about?"
William shrugged, not taking his eyes off the TV. I watched him close himself off slightly. "I don't really know, just couldn't find it in myself to get up, you know?"
