A lone figure sat on a rooftop, overlooking the sea, relishing the coolness of the autumn air as it mixed with the sea breeze. He enjoyed spending time on the rooftops after dark. Especially during the cooler months, more so now that the cold no longer affected him. He was never bothered by the cold to begin with. The temperature outside was around 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4.4 degrees Celsius), yet there he was, sitting on a roof, wearing a white t-shirt, with a Pokéball picture on the front, grey jeans, and his usual white multi-branched beanie. An amulet, a silver sun with a ruby in the center glinted in the moonlight. The ruby in the amulet was special. There was a fire encased within it, a sign that its wearer was using his power. His phone buzzed.
"Yeah, Wally?" He asked, answering the phone.
"Hey, Brendan," Wally replied. "Just thought I'd let you know, someone's coming home. I think you know who I'm talking about."
"Interesting," Brendan said with a grin. "Do you know when she'll be here?"
"It's midnight now. Tomorrow. 10:45 at latest."
"Sweet."
"Hey, before you hang up, I thought should mention, Steven was here. He's the one that told me."
"Tell Steven to lay off. My answer's going to be the same. I'm not going to let him test me. We've got our own territory to worry about protecting."
"He visited for a different reason."
"So, what does "Rayquaza's Chosen" want?"
"He wants to unlock her ability," Wally explained.
"Tell him, I'll burn him to nothing if he tries anything," Brendan growled. "She's got a successful life, I don't want him to ruin it by forcing her to use her powers. She doesn't need that kind of target on her back."
"Yeah, but, she'll need to use them sometime. You know that. So does she."
Brendan sighed, "You're right. But Steven's going to try to uphold that rivalry our Legends have. I'm not letting that happen. I won't fight her."
"Because you'd kill her in a fight?"
"That, and she'd also kill me in that fight. If her powers do activate, I'm going to train her. The rivalry between Groudon and Kyogre is stupid anyways."
"I'd watch what you say, human," A voice grumbled in his head.
"C'mon, admit it. You like the fact that I'm stubborn, vocal, and independent," he retorted telepathically. The Legend smirked, at his Patron's words. Most of their kind followed orders. Not this one.
"Just because I respect it doesn't mean I like it," Groudon muttered.
"Well, that's all to report. The other Patrons have been relatively quiet lately. But, I guess that's to be expected, since so many Patrons have been getting killed." Wally chuckled. "Steven and you are probably the only Patrons not afraid to be outside."
"I'm sure we aren't the only ones," Brendan said. "I have a feeling that April still goes out a lot. Her territory is pretty rough, lots of crimes, usually naval related, happen over there. Her crew, Team Permafrost, might even be just as tough as our Team Brimstone. Hey, I have a proposition for Steven. Tell him, we'll find out who's killing Patrons and their followers. In return, he leaves our friend alone."
"You know he won't agree to that."
Brendan smirked, "He might not agree, but he knows he doesn't have any other option. I'll talk to you later, a'ight?"
"Okay."
Brendan hung up the phone, then looked out at Littleroot Bay.
"Three years," he said aloud. "Three years since I last saw you. Before you left for Kanto. I can't wait to see you again, May Maple."
..........
So, that's the prologue! What do you guys think?
Also, I know I said I would make other fanfictions, but I had a urge to start this one.
Also, I'm still trying to figure out some original premises and titles for those stories. I'm thinking I'll start with Soul Eater. And of course, I will make a story that isn't a fanfiction. But, I also really want to complete a few stories before I add anymore.
And, just so you know, I understand that Groudon's a ground type (thank you HarukaChanSakuraka for that advice), but his primal form makes him a ground/fire type. So, let's just go with that, alright?
