Chapter 12

Three weeks passed since the wave mission. Zabuza and Haku became Irukas new assistants in the Academy. Naruto rushed through the village ignoring the hate he received from the villager.

The blonde was late. He was doing early morning training and lost track of time. He quickly put his mask on and the genjutsu placed on his jacket to cover the uchiha crest.

Man! I hate it when time pasts by so damn quickly. Naruto thought in annoyance. Hah! Sucks to be you then. Kurama said. Shut up! You don't know what it feels like to be late cuz you don't even go out! You lazy ass!! Naruto growled.

When Naruto arrived he stopped running and walked. He saw Sasuke sitting on a boulder while Sakura sat under a tree calling out to him and waving to him simultaneously.

"Hn (why are you late?)" Sasuke asked and Naruto chuckled sheepishly scratching the back of his head.

"Hn, hn (sorry, I was training and I lost track of time.)" Naruto answered he sat on the grass, leaning against the rock. Sasuke merely rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"Naruto-kun, why were you late?" Sakura asked approaching the two boys.

Naruto looked up, "I... uh... got lost on the road of life...?" Naruto answered taking a page off Kakashi's book.

"I HAVE A CLONE! I HAVE A CLONE! I HAVE A CLONE!" Kakashi yelled as he appeared out of nowhere and ran up to Naruto. The team sweat dropped besides Naruto who simply eye smiled at his sensei and greeted him.

"What do you mean by that Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura asked in confusion.

Kakashi face palmed as if to say that it was obvious by what he meant. "Well, one he reads the same book as I do." Kakashi explained and opened his mouth to say more.

"Not all the time." Naruto said before Kakashi could even begin his second reason.

Kakashi glared at Naruto who wasn'teven paying attention. "Two he eyes smiles just like me." Kakashi was about to go on when Naruto cut in again.

"Again not all the time."

Kakashi grumbled, "third he wears the face mask," Kakashi said pointing to the mask, Naruto opened his mouth to comment, "and lastly he said the same excuse I was going to use today." Kakashi said before Naruto could interrupt.

"And if he dyed his hair to silver and had gravity defying hair then he would be worthy of being call my son." Kakashi finished.

Sasuke and Sakura doubled sweat dropped while Naruto just yawned in boredom. "Anyway, I just signed you up for the Chunnin Exams, so train hard you have six weeks until the exams." Kakashi explained and they nodded.

Kakashi nodded in satisfaction, "good. Now I'll be off." He said and disappeared in puff of smoke. Naruto put his hand on Sasuke's shoulder and they disappeared in a black flash.

Sakura on the other hand walked home. Man why doesn't Naruto-kun do that to me? She asked herself. Maybe he still hasn't realised how strong hearted you are. Inner Sakura said.

Maybe. Sakura thought. If so then I'll train hard too!

Chaa! That's right! Inner Sakura exclaimed.

When Naruto and Sasuke got home they quickly raced around the house making their parents and Itachi worried at their sudden action. "Naruto, Sasuke why are you running around the house like you're high on something?" Itachi asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Sorry!" Sasuke let out, "we're getting for training. We're gonna be training for five weeks in preparation for the Chunnin Exams." Their parents and Itschi nodded and went back to doing whatever they were doing.
