Thirteen

Want You Back is really, really amazing ! I love it ! It's very different from what they've done before, i hope there will be more of the "Punk rock" on the new album, though...What do you think of the song? You excited for the album?

"Hey, Ash!" Michael tapped Ashton's shoulder. Ashton let out a little squeal "Mikey! You scared me!" Michael giggled. He was happy Ashton called him Mikey "Sorry." Ashton eyed him suspiciously "Why so happy?" Michael smirked and leaned up against the locker "Oh, no reason. Wanna hang after school? Gotta tell you something." Ashton's heart started to beat a little faster, and his cheeks heated up a little. He hoped Michael was gonna confess his feelings for him and say that he just said he liked Luke as an attempt to make him jealous.

But, that was just Ashton daydreaming. He was allowed to daydream, though.

"Ashton? Hello?" Michael snapped his fingers in front of his face. Ashton jumped a little and snapped out of his thoughts "Did you zone out?" Ashton flushed red again "Yeah, sorry!" He awkwardly scratched the back of his neck "And uh, yeah I can hang out after-after school." Michael noticed his strange behavior "Hey, are you okay? You're acting weird?" He placed a hand on his shoulder "Yeah, I'm fine." He sent him a reassuring smile. Michael wasn't convinced, but let it go.

"Alright. Let's meet here after school." Ashton hummed and pursed his lips, Michael was about to speak, but the bell rang, calling people to class.

"Well, um.. See ya' later." Michael winked playfully and then he was on his way to his first class. He didn't have any classes with Ashton nor Luke that day, so he was basically by himself until lunch. He was excited to see Luke, he hoped he would be there at lunch. He didn't always eat lunch at the cafeteria, he would sometimes sit outside under a tree, listening to some music and reading. He didn't always eat something, but if he did, it would be something small like some blueberries or raspberries.

When Michael finally got to class he sat down at a desk in the corner. At least he had history, so he could just try and sleep. The teacher was reading some text about old, dead people he didn't care about. While he was resting his eyes, he was thinking about Luke. Of how their date was gonna be. He was wondering if he should bring Luke flowers, or a teddy bear? Or nothing? It's not like he haven't been on a date before, he's a good looking guy. He's had a boyfriend or two before, but none of them made him feel like Luke did.

Now, Michael was never the one to believe in soul mates, but then he met Luke and he instantly felt this connection. He didn't know it at the time, but when he looked in to those piercing blue eyes for the first time: he fell in love.

He was thinking a little more of what to give Luke. He decided that he wanted to give him something, not flowers or a teddy bear, but something special. Something that came from the heart.

Then it dawned on him.

He could write him a song!

Yes, that was perfect! Michael loved writing songs, he had a journal full of songs he had written. Music was his passion! Since he was a little boy, he always wanted to be a professional musician and songwriter. And, he had a good chance of becoming that, his lyrics was amazing and he had an incredible voice! Plus, he played the guitar.

"Hello, Ashton." Michael smiled and plopped down in front of him at the lunch table "Hello, Mikey. Aren't you gonna get some food?", Ashton asked, noticing Michael didn't have a tray of food. Michael shook his head "Nah, I'm saving up for something, so I brought lunch from home." Ashton popped a fry in his mouth "Oh," he popped another one in his mouth "What're ya' saving up for?" Michael smirked "None of your business." Ashton rolled his eyes "Come on! Tell me!" The red-haired boy crossed his arms "Nope." Ashton pouted "Meanie!" Michael stuck his tongue out him, and just as he did so, Luke quietly approached their table and sat down. Michael smiled. He wanted to kiss Luke's cheek, but Luke wasn't out yet and he hadn't told Ashton about them, so he just grabbed Luke's hand under the table. It was a sweet gesture.

Ashton did notice they were sitting a little closer, it made him really jealous and sad. But he had to pretend everything was fine "So, Luke," Ashton looked at Luke, he noticed Luke wasn't looking him in the eyes, his eyes just flickered to his hair or shirt collar, but never his eyes. It was a little weird, but he shrugged it off "What are you gonna do after we graduate? College?" Luke shrugged and then mumbled "I don't know... I don't really have a plan." Ashton nodded. He didn't understand why he didn't have a plan? Everybody at the school seemed to have a plan, except Luke.

Lunch ended and the three boys went to each their classes.

There was only an hour left of school, and Ashton was excited and nervous for what Michael was gonna tell him.

"Ready to go?" Ashton let out (yet again) a squeal "Please! For the love of god! Stop. Doing. That!" Michael chuckled and ran a hand through his hair "Sorry, Ash. Ready or what?" Ashton groaned and threw his head back "Yes, I am! Sometimes you're so annoying." They started walking out of the school. It was a little windy, but nothing major.

"You're just jealous because I'm taller than you." Ashton huffed "Uhm, nuh uh!"

"Uhm, yuh uh!"

They had a beautiful friendship.

Michael plopped down on the couch with a sigh. Even though Ashton was his best friend, he was still nervous about telling Ashton about him and Luke going out. Ashton sat down next to him, sending Michael a little smile "So, what do you wanna tell me?" Michael sighed "Uhm.. Okay... You know how I have this really big crush on Luke?" It felt like a knife stabbing Ashton's heart "Ye-yeah? What about that?" Michael fiddled with his fingers, a fond smile playing on his lips "He likes me too.. And-and we kissed!" He dramatically laid down on the couch "Oh Ashton, it was magical! There were sparks! And fireworks! Oh-Oh! And we're going on a date!"

And yeah, Ashton's heart shattered into a million pieces.

"I wanna write a song for him, Ash..." And here Ashton thought his heart couldn't break more. Ashton wanted to be the one Michael wrote a song for, the one Michael kissed, the one Michael was going on a date with. He wanted to be with Michael. And you know what? He felt so bad about it. He wanted Michael to be happy, and he could tell he was with Luke. He didn't wanna ruin that.

"Ashton?", Michael noticed that Ashton looked a little sad and it confused him a bit "Oh, yeah... I'm happy for you, Michael." He pulled Michael into a hug, so he couldn't see the tears well up in his eyes "So happy."

I'm so sorry about the late update! I really wanted it up yesterday, but I just didn't have time to write!
Hope you like this chapter, though. Sorry it was kinda sad🥀 well, next chapter will be their date! (and some other stuff)
