Chapter 2
Percy
Percy didn’t want to let Annabeth go as he kissed her, but the boy, Leo, the “supreme commander” of the Argo II was laughing at them. She stepped away, her gray eyes filled with tears. She tucked a lock of blond hair behind her.
“Let me introduce you to my friends,” Annabeth trilled. She took a step away. “Percy, this is Jason Grace, son of Jupiter.” She gestured to the blond boy with blue eyes.
“I’ve heard a lot about you,” Percy said as he shook Jason’s hand.
“I could say the same about you,” Jason laughed.
“Grace? My friend Thalia has that last name,” Percy suddenly recalled.
Annabeth bit her lip. “Uh… Percy? Hera claimed Jason at the Wolf House and Thalia thought he died. They’re siblings.”
Percy thought his brain would explode as he stared at Jason. He had Thalia’s electric blue eyes. But other than that… Thalia and Jason were nothing alike.
“That’s cool.” Percy nodded.
“This is Piper Mclean, daughter of Aphrodite,” Annabeth continued, holding her hand out to a pretty girl. Her eyes were like a kaleidoscope. They kept changing. Her hair was the color of chocolate in two braids on the sides. She smiled.
“Hi, Percy,” she greeted, shaking Percy’s hand. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“This is Leo Valdez, son of Hephaestus,” Annabeth chirped, smiling.
Leo had curly hair and elfish features. His grin was impossibly mischievous. He was shaking like he had drunk a gallon of coffee.
“Yo,” he greeted Percy, not bothering to shake hands. “Everyone at camp has been babbling about the amazing Percy Jackson who defeated Kronos. It got a little tiring. I had to stop hanging out with Annabeth for a while.”
Annabeth turned pink while Piper and Jason laughed.
“These are my friends,” Percy said, looking at Hazel and Frank. Percy stopped short, seeing Hazel’s terrified expression. Her gold eyes were wide with fear. Her face was pale. He remembered that Leo looked exactly like her old boyfriend Sammy Valdez.
“This is Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto,” Percy continued, holding his hand out to them. Hazel managed to give a shaky smile and a small squeak.
“And this is Frank Zhang, son of Mars.”
Frank smiled widely, but he was really staring at Hazel.
“When are we leaving?” Piper asked.
“Tomorrow,” Leo answered. “That puppy can go anywhere right now.”
“Right…” Annabeth muttered sarcastically.
“Where should we go?” Piper looked around. “Some of the Romans don’t trust us.”
“Stay with someone,” Jason commanded. “Leo and Piper, you two can come with me. We’ll go to the warship and check up on Coach.”
The three scuttled away, talking quietly.
“Percy,” Hazel called. She was relaxed now that Leo was out of sight. “Frank and I are going to walk around. You okay with Annabeth?”
"Yeah,” Percy agreed. He needed time with his girlfriend.
Frank grinned down at Annabeth. “You never told us your girlfriend was hot.”
