Like I said last chapter, this is just a filler because I knew I needed another chapter before what happens in the next chapter. >:) No comments about that, by the way. You have to keep waiting! Now, go read, my readers! Go, go, go minions!
Chapter 29
Leo
When Leo heard the loud thud, he knew he had to get out of the engine room. He leaned away from Hazel, and she raised an eyebrow. He held up his index finger, telling her to wait. She looked at him strangely.
And then… thud.
They jumped up and went upstairs. They didn’t see anything, which brought chills up Leo’s back. Until someone slammed into him, he was terrified.
“OW!” he yelled. He saw blond hair and intimidating gray eyes.
Annabeth gasped. “Guys, I’m trying to find Percy. Do you know where he is?”
“He was at the pool.” Hazel pointed down the hall.
“I’m right here.” Percy came from the pool room, perfectly dry. “I really like staying dry when I go for a swim. It’s nice.”
“Where’s Frank?” Annabeth asked. “Where’s Jason?”
Jason just then exited his room. “I was in my room. I heard footsteps outside.”
Hazel looked guilty.
“What should we do?” Annabeth asked.
“I know!” Leo danced around before saying, “Tacos!” He rushed off to the kitchen and got everything he needed from the pantry and refrigerator.
“Do you really need to make tacos?” Jason asked, stepping into the kitchen with a slight frown.
“Yes.” Leo lit the stove quickly before heating up the meat and bell peppers. “Why are you asking?”
“Well you’re acting like this is a party.” Jason looked grim. “And Piper’s gone, so I just thought it wasn’t really a good thing.”
“Oh!” Leo smacked himself in the forehead. “It’s not a party! It’s a formal get-together!”
Jason’s lip curled up into a grin as he asked, “Formal get-together?”
“Uh huh,” Leo replied, stirring up the meat. “I’m in the mood for tacos, okay? Tacos give me hope.”
“That, Valdez, is a lame statement.” Jason rolled his eyes. “I’m leaving you alone so you can absorb the hope from your tacos.”
Leo was then alone. He felt kind of bad that they were actually eating meat, because he could imagine Piper smacking him upside the head, demanding for tofu. He grinned a little. The tacos were then done, so he carried the plate with the tacos piled high to the couch.
"Wow,” Annabeth remarked, her eyes going wide. “After being nearly killed by a giant spider, this looks good.”
Everyone, in their haste to grab a taco, bonked heads with each other, so they groaned and rubbed their foreheads in distress, while Leo snickered at their bright red faces. They all glared at him icily.
After about two silent minutes of everyone shoving food down their throats, Annabeth cleared her throat. Leo looked up skeptically.
“So, I say tomorrow we keep going north by Calypso’s lair,” she said. She brought out a notebook and began to scribble out a little map. “It can’t be too far out. Calypso said she was so near to the Doors of Death. I guess we should get ready tomorrow.”
