Chapter 14
Frank
Frank felt some relief when he found out where Gration was. At the same time, he was deathly afraid because of the planning.
“We’re dealing with him first,” Percy growled. “How do you know that, Piper?”
The daughter of Aphrodite shook her head. “I don’t know, Percy. It just came to me. The vision hit me like a slap.” She hung her head.
“The Arch of Constantine,” Annabeth murmured, her eyes glazing over. “That… it’s amazing. You’ll be stunned.”
“We’re not going there for the architecture,” Piper whispered. “We’re going there for a fight.” She slumped until her face was hidden in her arms. “I saw in my visions that all of us were there. So I wasn’t missing yet.”
“Was there anything else that’s important?” Jason asked.
“Um…” Piper looked up and bit her lip. “It was night. And there were no mortals around.”
“No mortals?” Hazel repeated.
“Yes,” Piper said, nodding. “Like I said, it was night. And we were a little loud. But there were no mortals.”
Everyone sat in silence. “Does anyone have an idea why there weren’t any mortals?” Leo asked.
Frank looked at everyone shaking their heads. “We’ll find out when we get there,” Piper suggested. She looked at Jason. “I want to go to my room.”
Jason sighed, but he was grinning. He picked her up dramatically, and Piper waved. They left, with Piper complaining about her injured foot.
Percy was chuckling. “She’s something.”
Annabeth nodded. “She’s valuable. Just like Ella.”
Ella flew into the room. She cocked her head. “Ella wants cinnamon. Cinnamon is good for harpies.”
“Wait a sec,” Frank said uneasily. “Why is she still here?”
Annabeth looked uncomfortable. “She helps me find information about Gration and Ephialtes.”
“So that’s the only reason she’s here?”
Everyone turned when they heard Jason.
“Because Piper’s so valuable, isn’t she? So you guys feel bad for her? She can take care of herself.” Jason was angry.
Frank frowned. “Jason, you know we don’t think like that. It’s just that Piper holds a lot of answers that we can’t get. And so we have to protect her, just like we have to protect Ella. They both are important to us.”
Jason relaxed. “Oh. Sorry. It’s just Piper feels bad.”
Hazel frowned. “Why does she feel bad? She’s done nothing wrong.”
“She thinks so. She thinks that you guys are mad for calling her a bad luck charm.” Jason was grinning a little.
“She may be bad luck, but we’re not mad,” Leo said, trying to hold back laughter. “Beauty Queen is… something.”
The six demigods burst into laughter. They laughed until they heard a loud thud.
Frank turned around to see Piper on her stomach, limbs out. She had a grimace on her face, so she must have walked from her room. She saw everyone staring, so she put her head up with her hands.
