Chapter 32
Frank
Frank’s morning was going terribly. He awoke to a ventus named Dylan attacking, then Leo burst into flames, and the flames spread the fire throughout the warship. Other great news: Annabeth, Jason, and Piper were still inside. What joy this brought him.
And Hazel chose Leo. Hazel chose Leo. They had been hugging this morning, and they had snuck in a small kiss.
“Where are they?” Hazel asked suddenly. “Leo, what did you do?”
“Dylan was trying to take Piper,” Leo interjected. “I shot a fireball at him, but he dropped Piper… I don’t know where the others are!”
Percy opened a door. “They’ll come out,” he said. “I… I’m going in!"
“No, Perce, you could get hurt.” Frank managed to stop him.
“Then what do we do?” Percy wiped soot off his face.
“We wait for a few minutes, and then put the fire out,” Leo instructed. He was holding Hazel’s hand.
In the shadow of the bright firelight, someone came barreling. It was Piper. She collapsed into the grass. She coughed before lowering her head.
“Oh my gods, Piper,” Hazel whispered before screaming, “Piper!”
There was a scream from inside. Suddenly Dylan rose into the air, carrying Jason in one hand and Annabeth in the other.
“My mistress calls me, demigods!” Dylan called. “I came for one demigod, and I am making away with two.”
“That’s it!” Frank yelled. His hand twitched to the bow which he had brought out luckily. He notched an arrow and let it fly.
It hit Dylan; somehow the arrow pierced his body He howled before dropping Jason and Annabeth. They yelled before hitting the grass.
“You will pay, demigods,” Dylan snarled. “You will pay.” He spun faster, the winds pushing everyone back. For some crazy reason, rain began to pour down. The clouds formed as Dylan flew up and vanished.
It took a few minutes for the storm to vanish, but the rain poured down and put the fire out. The rain turned into a cold mist.
“Ow,” Annabeth muttered, rubbing her head and sitting up. “He wanted to take me away!”
“That was nothing,” Piper whispered, sitting up. Her hair was plastered to the sides of her face, giving her the image of a wet kitten. Her eyes were filled with rage, and she looked deeply offended. “He was hitting on me at the Grand Canyon, then he comes back to slam me into a wall.”
“We should go look at the damage,” Hazel commented. “And get on some clothes.” It was true. Everyone was in their pajamas.
Everyone stood before going into the door. Everything was wet, but underneath the water was soot. A few rugs were burnt. Some of the doors were covered in soot, and the armory was the worst. Most of the weapons were unrecognizable, the Celestial bronze or the Imperial gold were partially melted and the wooden shafts were half gone from the fire.
“Next time, don’t flame on,” Jason commented. He opened a cupboard above his head and grinned. He pulled out a bunch of knives and arrows.
“Well, we could have been kidnapped by Dylan.” Annabeth got a garbage bag and began to throw the burnt items away. She went to peel off a rising piece of wood from an empty cupboard, but the whole thing fell from the wall. She sighed. “We really need to make some improvements.”
