Chapter 16: One Step at a Time

I never wanted to let him go. I guess that was the truth that I’ve been keeping in my heart the whole time. It was the mere fact that I immediately agreed to have a date with Harry. Yes, I am going to my first and official date with Harry Edward Styles. Without having a second thought I said ‘yes’ when he asked me. Actually, I am surprised how he managed to convince me with the idea of starting all over again. Second chance wouldn’t hurt, right?

I could feel my stomach churned wildly. The feeling was so much closer with being hit by a baseball bat in the stomach. I am having that mixed emotions of excitement and fear. I was catching my breath while staring at my bed. Actually, I could not even see my bed because a dozen of clothes and dresses were on top of it. I’ve been choosing and trying an outfit the whole day and still I couldn’t decide what to wear.

A knock on the door brought my feet to the floor with a sudden leap. I looked at the clock and it was almost 7 pm. Harry will be picking me up by that time. Shoot! I’ll be late for my first date with him.

            “Jnel...”

It was Harry. He was very early. I almost jump downstairs to open the front door. My heart beats racing too fast when his blue green eyes met mine. He was utterly perfect with his white shirt and navy blue coat. His lips outlined a smile when he saw the hint of pink on my cheeks.

“You look adorable…” he stepped backward to get a full view of me, “but, I think it wasn’t very nice to go on a date wearing pajamas.”

It was only then I realized that I’m still on my PJ’s and it’s a shame that Harry saw me like this. I have a feeling that this date won’t be the perfect one. I immediately went to my room leaving behind Harry laughing so hard.

After an hour, I finally settled myself with the orange floral dress that I bought last week from an online shop. I simply let my hair on the loose and just pinned the left side with the red ribbon clip that Harry gave when we’re just a kid. I didn’t bother putting any make-ups. A lip tint would be enough.

“I’m done.” I announced proudly as I goes down the stairs. Harry looked up and I could see his adorable dimples when he smiled when his eyes landed on the ribbon my hair.

“Gee, thanks. I thought you’re trapped inside.”

I rolled my eyes, “Boys just don’t get it.”

“Shall we?” He asked with his hands reaching out for me.

I put my hands on his waiting arms and smiled back. “Yeah.”

Harry was being the gentlemen of the night.  He opened the car’s door for me and helped me in. The simple gestures he showed made me feel like a princess.  Maybe, this date would be fine. Before, he started driving I was surprised when he leaned on me. At first, I thought he would kiss me. That was a silly thing to think of. His hands reached the left side of my chair and he lifted the seatbelt underneath. He just wants to put the seatbelt on me. If there’s one thing that I love the most about Harry, it would be the way how he acts so protective on the people he loves. When we’re just kids, he told me that it makes him feel bad to see the important people on his life get hurts. He even said that, he would rather take a bullet for them. That is why fell so irrevocably in love with him.

            “Jnel…”

            “Huh?”
