Song: Ain't Nobody Like You by Yung Bae feat. Josh Pan
"Again," Taylor Thompson yelled, on the side lines of the rink. I groaned in frustration, I know I can do this, I've done it numerous times, yet today is not the day for some reason. I skated off on my right foot and jumped off, tucking my arms and legs in, rotating in a circle twice before landing on my left foot, and balancing on the blade, I smiled at the feeling of free skating backwards.
"Arms out," Taylor shouted. There goes my smile, don't get me wrong I love my coach dearly, but today she was pushing me extra hard which is odd.
"Ok, take a break Zen," Tay replied, we had nicknames for each other, I was her Zen and she was Tay to me, we're like an old married couple, except we wouldn't date since I'm gay, and she knows that.
"Was it rough at work that you're blanking out?" Tay questioned.
"Mhm," I replied, taking a drink of water. "Had to deal with a screaming girl, could't calm her down, and her mother did nothing and expected us to do it, and then Sam dropped my files, spilling them everywhere followed by coffee dropping onto them. I was done with today," I complained, leaning on the board counter.
"You sound like a girl," Tay laughed, "alright, get back out there," well there goes her happiness. Seriously, why is she pushing me like this? This is not like her at all.
I took out my phone while skating in circles, checking the time and notifications. 20:32, 1 missed call. Zoe? Why would my sister call me? It's two in the afternoon, she's working, unless she's on break. I decide to call her and see if she's still on break and what she wants. She picks up not even a second in.
"About time you answered," Zo replied, sharpness in her voice.
"I'm at practice right now and I had work today, like I do everyday, like a regular person," I replied, a little annoyed at her snarky comment.
"Ouch," she said with sarcasm "anyways, I called letting you know mom made me send your package."
Did she seriously call me letting me know she sent out my books?
"You could have texted me instead," I replied with boredom in my voice, hopping off the ice and landing on my right blade for fun.
"Rap up your conversation Zander," it's rare that Taylor calls me by my full name, the only time is when she's serious, and she's serious.
"Ok, I gotta go and practice before my head gets cut off by Ms. Thompson, tell everyone I say hi and thank mom for packing my books, and thank you for sending them to me, see ya," I said.
"Bye baby brother," I heard Zoso say before hanging up.
"Who called?" I barely heard Taylor say as I spun in a circle and jumping off my left and landing unbalanced, and then re-balencing on one foot and not both, it's just been a long day at work.
"Zoe, telling me she sent something to me," I replied, looking at Taylor and seeing her. She had shoulder length blond hair, in waves, that went with her evergreen eyes, when the lights hit her eyes perfect, they turn into a bright emerald that was just polished. She was taller then me, but to be fair most people are taller then a 5'5" person, including my sisters. Yes sisters, triplets...and older by 3 years.
"Do it again," Taylor said.
This was going to be a long practice.
