Song: Late Night Dinner 5 by Magnus Ringblom.
It was finals in Men's hockey today. Seeing the full stadium made the game more intense between the rival teams, Canada versus United States of America.
I was over at the hospital watching the game with the team, since they're off just to watch the game, in the bored room, while studying a patients file to see possible outcomes of them living, along with me assisting.
"No matter what, we have to remove his appendix, but while we are in surgery, can we do a bone marrow transplant?" Sam asked, looking at the sheets of paper scattered everywhere.
"What's your opinion Emily?" Jane said, standing beside me at the small counter, pouring coffee, and myself hot water with a wedge of lemon in it.
"I say we do it separately because it's a safer call of saving his life then doing two things and risking the death zone," Emily answered.
As I turned around to go back to the table, Sam clapped really loud and said 'yes' making me question what was up, but got answered when Canada celebrated, meaning they scored.
"Josh is so hot, who wouldn't want a man like him," Emily spoke out, losing focus on the argument, "wouldn't you agree Zander?"
"I would, but I can't be with him," I said, sitting down and tried to lean back, but realized I couldn't.
"You're lame, anyways, what's your opinion on this, who's side are you taking?" Jane questioned, rubbing her slender fingers on my neck.
"You can't do both surgery at the same ti-" I stated, but got cut off by Emily shouting in Sam's face, before asking me to continue on.
"Time, and the reason is because when you remove the appendix, blood has to flow there, as if saying, 'we just moved, let's get comfortable,' so if you then do the transplant more blood would be needed and he's got to produce enough blood for it to accept the new bone," I added, taking a sip of tea, it kinda made me feel like one of those court judges who proved someone dead wrong.
"You thought this one out, didn't you?" Sam acknowledged, glancing over to me and waiting for my response.
"Nope," I simply answered, popping the 'p.'
I gestured to Jane to pass the file, so I could write in what we were going to do, but she walked over and wrote it in herself.
"You can't write, you're left handed, I've noticed," Jane spoke, looking down at the paper.
I looked at her in astonishment, she stood up and gestured me to follow her. Following what she said, I stood up and saw the score tied at 2-2 in the end of the second period, has time gone by that quickly?
"Wanna join me in telling him, since you look bored, even though you are not allowed to work," Jane quietly said, as we walked past numerous people to the patient.
"So I have to come here when I'm healed to get the transplant?" The man asked, and his wife looking at us.
"Can't he get it at the same time?" She questioned, gripping his hand.
"We can't because not enough blood would be produced and we have to see how the appendix surgery goes," I said.
The couple sighed and agreed to the terms of what to do.
"We will set up the surgery tomorrow," Jane said, as we both left them to be and back to the "study" room.
"Are you serious?" I glanced over to Jane, who glanced over at me, with a non-shocked face, it was a normal occurrence here in the room.
"What's up?" Jane asked Emily, needing an explination.
"We're in shoot out and we need this shot in order to win," Emily explained, her hands covering her mouth and praying for us to win.
I noticed it was Cole who was shooting and that caused me to sit down beside Emily, with Jane in the middle.
Everyone was focused on the last shot, hearing the whistle go, Colton skated off, handling the puck smoothly and took the shot in the upper right corner, the net shot back meaning it was a successful shot.
Emily shot up with joy and hugged Sam, where Sam and Emily kissed, how cute?
"Cute, but gross," Jane said, causing them to break apart and look at us with rosy red cheeks.
My emotions were every where, happiness, sadness, joy, and so on. I couldn't choose one emotion. I was just overwhelmed by the excitement.
As I finished cooking my dinner, I heard Skype wanting my attention.
Grabbing a plate and putting food on it, I ran to the stool and hit answered, not bothering with who was calling.
"Congratulation!" I exclaimed, seeing Cole's face, his warm smile decorated with dimples and the shaded blue eyes looking at me.
He looked down in embarrassment and he mumbled a small thank you.
"You watched the game?" He questioned, looking back up.
"Of course," I answered, taking a spoonful of mashed potatoes and eating it.
We talked for an hour before he asked me what I was doing for Christmas.
"Celebrate with my family, isn't that the meaning of Christmas?" I answered, drinking the hot chocolate I created.
"Fair enough, so my mom invited your family to celebrate Christmas with us, so we are, but in Australia, so that means you can show me around town," Cole smirked, causing me to choke on my drink and cough.
"Explain that again," I said, my eyes watering and getting a repeat of what was just said.
"Have you ever seen snow?" Cole questioned, making me shake me head.
"I want to see it, but at the same time not be around it," I answered, "have you ever seen sunlight?" I added.
Cole chuckled, "yes, but I never celebrated Christmas with sunlight and no snow," he answered.
I smirked at his comment, he logged off and left me in the drift of silent with the cat sleeping in the chair.
I just wanted days to past where I could paddle board down the stream and into the ocean by town. I could do it here, but it wouldn't be the same.
Glancing at the clock to see it was nine, I settled down to watch Netflix and catch up on shows in bed.
Eventually, I fell asleep watching some kind of episode and the night breeze flowing in and out the window, cooling me off.
Author's Note: HEYO! First off, I don't know all the medical terms or even if it's possible, so allow it to slide by, I am trying my best to be as accurate as possible and I'm sorry if I offended you. Secondly, if your country wasn't in this to compete against, I'm sorry, but usually when I watch hockey games in the Olympics, I tend to see Canada and the U.S.A most of the time, so I'm sorry if I offended you.
