Song: The Other Side by Ruelle
I had my legs crossed in my lap as I had my phone on the left side and the sheet of paper on my right. As I was about to sign it, Kiko laid down on the stacked papers of signatures, "Kiko, I need to sign these," I begged, really tired from today. She simply meowed and placed her paw on my phone, I sighed, "ya you're right," I grumbled, grabbing my phone and called home, I know mom is home since she's a stay at home mom when we were all young. A few rings later I heard my mother's voice.
"Darling, what's wrong? You never call me, it's always me, and it's extremely late in Victoria," my mom said, a little concerned.
I yawned before I answered my mom's question "well, during practice Ms. Thompson gave me a sheet of paper that said," I felt happy tears wanting to escape again, "it said that I am going to Berlin, Germany to," I took a big breathe to calm myself down.
"Honey, breathe please, breathe, I'm happy you're going to Berlin, but there's no need to cry over it," my mom replied, trying to soothe me through the phone.
"This is important because I'm going to to compete in the Olympics," I said and heard the line go dead, until screams of joy and crying was heard, followed by a lot of congratulation over and over. I couldn't take the joy, I said a quick bye and to tell my sisters and dad the news.
After that relief, I grabbed a pen and signed the documents, as I was signing the last one I saw the corner of the page wet, this was happy tears, I reminded myself, happiness and goals being made.
Weeks have gone by after calling my mom, and practice has been expanded by another hour to get better, not perfect, but better to be standing on the podium. I stopped at the door of my bosses office with fear in my body, I couldn't stop shaking, my secret would be out on what I do and I don't know how he will react. I knocked softly on the door waiting for a signal to allow me in. I heard the signal and stepped in the open office with lot's of natural light shining in that didn't need light bulbs to show what's in here.
"Dr. Bradley, what an unexpected surprise, out of your years of education here in this hospital and me teaching you, this is only your second time. I assume it's very important, speak," Dr. Smith spoke, as he straightened up.
I couldn't bring myself to speak, so I handed him the sheet with a numerous number of peoples signature, reality it was 4 different people, waiting for one.
"Congratulation Zander, I'm very impressed," Dr. Smith replied, with shock and confusion in his voice.
"Thank you sir," I said, still nervous, I saw him sign quickly and hand me the documents back.
"I will allow you 3 weeks off, think of this as vacation time," he said plainly, "also," he added, "I never knew you did this kind of thing, well, to be fair, I don't know much about you."
"To be fair, no one does," I replied, getting up from the comfy lounge chair and started walking to the door, before I managed to open it I heard him say something.
"Not even the team here or your friends?" He asked, interested in my activity.
"No sir," I said, before leaving to go get ready for surgery.
A few months have gone by and I haven't seen Colton and his team, kinda sad about that, he was attractive, probably has a girlfriend, I mean who wouldn't want to be with that man? I lost focus and as I went to land from rotating I slammed my left side of my body onto the ice and slid across the ice before making contact with the board, pain went everywhere on my left side and back. I rolled onto my elbows and stayed there for a bit before I heard my name get called by a female.
"Zen, you good? That looked bloody painful, I'll go get you ice and tape," she said, before hurrying off the ice. I stayed like this for a bit, before slowly getting up onto my knees and looking into the ceiling lights and taking a few breathes in, I felt no concussion, but my body hurt like I was being burned under a flame.
"You took that way too hard," I heard a voice. It sounded familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I looked forward and saw the million shades of blue eye boy look down at my dull mint blue ones. First off, how long has this goddess been here for? Secondly, why is he here?
"Not the first time," I said, before standing up and stretching my tight muscles after the crash.
"Oh shit," he replied, scratching the two shades of brown hair, he stared at me for a bit before asking me two questions, "what's your accent and why are you here?"
"Australian and competition," I replied, skating to the bench, and Colton trailing behind me.
"So you're not from around here?" he asked again.
"No, this is my second year living in Victoria," I said, taking a drink of water and sitting on the bench.
"Interesting, I'm actually from Ottawa," he said, wanting me to take interest, which I do.
"Then why are you out here?" I questioned, tilting my head a bit, allowing some strands of hair to fall in front of my face. I seriously need a hair cut.
"For practice, I'm the captain for Team Canada," he smiled, showing off his teeth.
"I have no idea what that is," I said, feeling guilty.
"Hockey, in another way, we are going to the Olympics to compete in hockey, representing Canada, I'll let it slid, since you're from somewhere deathly hot ," he smirked.
"It's not that hot, depending on which part of Australia you live in or vist," I said back, smiling surprisingly. He smiled back.
"I'd love to know Australia, I've always wanted to go there," he said, leaning his elbows on the counter, leaning close to me, god he looks so good.
"I can tell you about it," I said. He laughed at my remark.
"I mean, I want you to show me Australia, since you're an expert," he winked. Something he said before finally caught up to me.
"Wait, you said you were going to the Olympics? Like the 2020 one?" I questioned.
"Ya..." He said, as if saying 'I literally just told you, have you not been listening?' "Do you have a concussion?"
"No I don't, I work at a hospital," I said, taking a little offence, even though he didn't know.
"I'm also going to the Olympics."
