“Are you sure about this? Isn’t she… your ex-girlfriend?”

Napatingin siya sa’kin at pagkatapos ay tumango siya.

“Jeanette T. Randall… she’s JTR?”

“When you told me to stop JTR in the parking lot the other day, I saw her. She has a different face, but that’s probably a mask so her identity will be concealed. But I know her… especially when she called me Nevs… I know it’s her,” said Sven with determination.

“Nevs? So she’s calling you Nevs?” Nickan asked. I can sensed her tone being excited.

“Yeah… my real name is Stan Francis T. Crux. She’s the only one who called me Nevs..”

“Ahhh!!!! I get it!!” Nickan exclaimed. I've got a bad feeling about this.

“What now?” I asked.

“Hehe nah nah.. it’s about his Code name Sven! It’s the opposite of Nevs! Wait… why Nevs?”

“Ahh yeah.. the truth is, she got it from the game Defense of the Ancient. My name Stan Francis has the initials SF, same with Nevermore, the Shadow Fiend. That’s how she end up with Nevs, short for Nevermore”

“Ahh.. sugoi!”

“Will you please cut it out now?” I told her with irritation. She just pouted. “So Sven, can you tell us more about Jeanette?”

“Jeanette told me before that she and her brother lost their parents when they were still young. Well, we never actually talk about her past ‘cause it only upsets her so I don’t think I have lots to tell you..”

“Hmm… so it is possible that the Dark Chaos adopted and trained them huh?”

“It’s probable,” Sven commented.

This is getting clearer now.

“So I guess I’ll let you Sven to take care of her whereabouts?”

“Pero Euclid—“

Tiningnan ko si Nickan para patigilin ito sa gusto nitong sabihin.

“You can do it right?” tanong ko kay Sven.

“Yeah, I can do it,” maiksing sagot nito.

“Good. You can go now,” tumango ito at pagkatapos ay umalis na. Napasandal naman ako sa kinauupuan ko.

“Bakit kay Sven mo pa inassign yung trabahong yun? Hindi ba parang ang hirap naman nun, you know, they’re ex-lovers?”

“Because I trust him.”

Hindi na sumagot pa si Nickan.

Tumunog naman bigla ang cellphone ko kaya napatingin ako dito.

Kinuha ko yung cellphone ko sa mesa at sinagot ang tawag.

“Hello?”

“I-Ito ba si Euclid Shellingford?” sagot ng nasa kabilang linya. Medyo nanginginig ang boses niya.

“Ah yes, sino sila?”

“Tulungan mo ko! Nakikiusap ako sa’yo! May gustong pumatay sa’kin!” ramdam kong nagpapanic na siya.

“Asan ka ngayon?”

“Nandito ako sa apartment ko! Blk 38 Lot 16, room 302! Parkview Village! Please help me!”

“Sige pupunta na kami diyan!” binaba ko ang tawag at saka sinenyasan si Nickan na sumunod sa labas. Halos paliparin ko na ang kotse ko papunta sa lugar na iyon.

Nang makarating kami sa apartment, dumiretso agad kami sa hagdan at tumuloy sa 3rd floor. Nang makita namin ang room 302, agad namin itong kinatok.

“Bakit parang walang tao sa loob?” tanong ni Nickan habang nakadikit ang pisngi sa may pinto.

Hindi kaya…

Chineck ko ang door knob pero nakalock ito. Patuloy pa rin naming kinatok ang pinto.

“Sino kayo?” nilingon namin yung lalaking kalalabas lang sa kabilang kwarto.

“Tumawag sa’min ang may-ari ng room na ‘to at sabi niya, may gustong pumatay sa kanya! Pwede ko bang malaman kung sa’n pwedeng makakuha ng susi nito?” sagot ko.

"Si Zaree nasa panganib? Sandali! Kukunin ko ang susi!” tumakbo ito pababa ng hagdan. Maya-maya, bumalik itong dala ang susi. Dali-dali naming binuksan ang pinto.

Pagkabukas namin ng pinto, tumambad sa’min ang katawan ng isang babaeng puno ng dugo ang katawan. May kutsilyong nakabaon sa katawan nito.

Gulong-gulo ang buong kwarto.

Napakuyom ako ng kamao.

Limang minuto…

Sa loob ng limang minutong biyahe, nagawa ng salarin na patayin siya at tumakas mula dito?

Imposible…
