I just shrugged my shoulders.
“So?”
“Ayan! Read it yourself!” he just threw a newspaper-like paper on me.
A Noble Son Found Dead

It was 6 am in the morning when the butler of the house discovered his young master, Daryl Lamperouge lying cold on his feet with a stabbed heart and blood has dried on his body. In his right hand holding a chess piece, a Queen that, according to the police, is the man’s dying message. It was suspected that the man’s younger sister, Akemi Queeny Lamperouge was the one who committed the crime for she was left missing after the incident…
I stopped reading the article and looked at him.
“So it was just a typical murder I guess… so what about it?”
“As you can see, that incident happened in London and it was a case that actually caught my attention.”
“Then?”
“And the murderer was a half-English, half-Filipino so…”
“So you were thinking that after she escaped her crime there, she flies back here?”
“Yeah.”
I gave him a dismayed look.
“WHAT? That was just a common sense to have that as conclusion, right?”
“In the first place, how can you be so sure that it was his sister that committed the crime? It maybe someone else… it maybe the butler? Or another woman…”
“Because of the chess piece!”
“The queen?”
“Yeah! His sister’s name is Akemi Queeny Lamperouge, that’s why!”
“That’s so lame..”
“Ha??”
“Think about it, if the murderer saw that chess piece, why didn’t she remove that from his brother’s hand?”
“Hah! You lack imagination here Euclid! Look, when Queeny killed her brother she actually thought that she has shut him completely! I mean she thought she has left him already unconscious! But little did she know that her brother has still some energy and has found out that there are some chess pieces near him! And then there he thought of grabbing the queen’s piece for it will be his dying message!”
“Can I have a look on the crime scene pictures?”
“Ahh sure! Here!”
Looking on the pictures, the man was quite tall. Mga 5’7 ang height. He has died from severe loss of blood. Nagkalat ang chess pieces around him…
Huh?
There’s something different with this picture…
It was the top view of the crime scene where the man was lying on his back and the chess pieces was near his head where the table was located. There are blood on the mantle. Same goes with the other chess pieces…
Something’s not right…
The estimated time of death was between 3am and 5am in the morning. According to the autopsy, there were cuts on his left chest, penetrating his arteries, cutting the veins that connect the heart to his other organs. And there was also a wound on his abdomen but it was not so deep. It was only 4 cm long.
I also looked at the other pictures…
Pictures of the things that were found on the crime scene…
The chess pieces…
The mantle covered with blood…
The knife that the murderer used…
The man’s wallet also covered with blood…
A necklace…
“By the way Nicolai, what’s your job?”

I looked at him. I can sense hesitation on him.
Weirdo.
I sighed.
“So how’s Chief Jorge Black?”
“Ahh! Iyon? He’s still so strict! Always complaining on our duties tapos laging pinupuna yung mga mali—u-uh!” napatigil siya bigla. “You know… him?”
“Of course! He’s a great man from… FBI?” I smirked.
“Aish! And here I was thinking of hiding my identity on you!”
“As if you can do that on me!” I let out a sarcastic laugh. “So you flew back here to get some help from me eh? That’s flattering!”
“Tsk. If it was not so big a case, I can handle it myself! But it’s a noble family so I can’t just lay down and wait for the case to move on!”
“May kinalaman ba ang kasong ‘to sa humahabol sa’yo nung nakaraan?”
“Nah… mga gangster lang yun na nakaaway ko nung una kong gumala mag-isa! Haha nataymingan lang nila ko!”
“Ahh…”
“So matutulungan mo ba ko?”
“Okay lang… so where are we going to start?”
He smiled.
“At Elite’s Academy.”
