I heard some irritating tone, probably from my phone which pulled my consciousness on the pre-active mode.
Napakunot ang noo ko sabay dilat ng isang mata. I looked at my clock, it’s still 8 am in the morning. Tiningnan ko yung cellphone ko na nasa mesa at pumikit ulit.
Here comes the sound again.
Nagtakip pa ko ng unan. Maya-maya, tumigil din ito sa pagtunog. Ilang linggo na rin pala simula nung huling kasong sinolve namin at ngayon ay December na. Christmas break to be exact.
Napamura ko sa isip nang marinig ang pagtunog na naman ng phone ko. Seriously, it's ruining my good day.
Aish! Tumayo na ko at saka inabot yung cellphone ko. May hinala na ko kung sinong tumatawag kahit hindi ko tingnan yung pangalan niya.
“Hello?” sagot ko.
“O-hayooooo!!!!” inilayo ko yung cellphone sa tenga ko. Ang babaeng ‘to talaga kahit kailan napaka-hyper! Ano na naman kayang kailangan niya't ginising niya pa ko ng ganito kaaga?
“Bakit?” tanong ko.
“Ang aga-aga ang sungit mo! Hehe hulaan mo kung asan ako ngayon!”
Pinakinggan ko naman yung nasa background niya. Medyo maingay, ibig sabihin ay may mga tao sa paligid niya.
“Flight number *** please proceed to the…”
“Airport? Anong ginagawa mo diyan?”
“Hehe magbabakasyon! I’m flying to Puerto Princesa! Wohoo! Wag mo ko masyadong mamimiss ahh!”
“Sino nagsabing mamimiss kita? Tss.”
“Haha sabi ko nga! Anong gusto mong pasalubong?”
“Iuwi mo na lang yung mga coral reefs gagawa ko ng sarili kong isla!” I told her with sarcastic tone.
“Funny Euclid! Ano nga kasi?”
“Bahala ka na! Sige matutulog pa ko! Bye!”
“Hey—“ binaba ko na ang tawag. Hihiga na sana ko ulit nang bigla itong tumunog ulit.
“Sinabi ko na ngang kahit ano Nickan!!” sabi ko pagkasagot ng tawag. Ang kulit!
“Ohh you’ve got some LQ with your girlfriend even this early in the morning?”
Napakunot ang noo ko. “Who’s this?” tanong ko. Tiningnan ko yung number, unregistered.
“It’s been a while right? Since… JTR’s case?” napalunok ako bigla.
“Moriarty? What do you want?” pasigaw kong tanong sa kanya.
“Oh relax! I just wanna greet you an advanced merry Christmas!”
“Hah! You think I’ll believe you? Tell me, what is it now?” sigaw ko sa kanya.
“I heard you’ve been involved in some cases these past few weeks huh? Too bad your killer killed herself. Isn’t it a slap on your part? You let the murderer escaped her crime? That really disappoints me,” napakuyom ako ng kamao.
“I don’t need to explain myself on you!”
“Of course that’s really you eh?! Well, I just called to let you know that boredom strikes me these past few days that’s why… I decided to play with some mice.”
“W-what do you mean?”
“Just so you know, I love the sound of a plane crashing down the city. Isn’t it great to hear those screams of fright? I really love to hear that.”
