Chapter 20

Monday

Jade's pov

"Babe wake up" Jack said as I turned onto my side. "Come on don't be like that" Jack said while trying to pull me back. "I don't wan to go to school. I don't feel good" I said still sleeping. He felt my forehead "omg babe your burning" He said while taking his hand away. "You go to school tell Lily, Kim, and Zane that I'm sick" I said while coughing. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying right here with you" Jack said as I smiled.

"Everything ok in here" My dad said while walking in. "Yeah everything's fine. Jade's sick so I'm going to stay here and take care of her. You can go to work. She'll be ok with me" Jack said as my dad nodded. "Ok I'm trusting you" My dad said as he walked out the door. "Do you want something to eat?" Jack asked. "In the third cabinet there's a bag of chocolate. Can you get that for me please" I said giving him the puppy dog eyes. "Ok I'll be right back" He said while running out of the room.

I got up slowly and turned on the tv. I started watching sponge bob square pants (one of my favorite cartoons). I might be a teenager on the outside, but I'm a little kid on the inside. Jack came back with the bag of chocolate, medicine, and water. "If your dad is going to leave me in charge of you. I'm going to try to make you feel a little bit better" He said as I smiled. "You being here is already making me feel better" I said while coughing.

He laid down next to me and watched tv. The bed was covered in rappers and my face was stuffed with chocolate. "Are you enjoying your time at home" Jack said as I nodded. "Being sick is amazing. You get to sit at home all day, take medicine, and watch cartoons" I said as he laughed. "So your saying that you enjoy taking medicine" He said as I shook my head no. "It's not that bad, but I still don't like taking it" I said.

(A few hours later)

"Come on Jade just take the medicine" Jake said while trying to give it to me. "No that shit is disgusting" I said coughing. "But it will make you feel better" Jake said as I started running away from him. "I rather die than take that medicine" I said while staying as far away from him as possible. "Well based off of memory you almost did die" He said as the room got quite.

We both stood there motionless and quite. I took a deep breathe and said "Do you know why I didn't die?" I asked him. He shook his head no. "The reason I'm still her today is because there was this voice in my head telling me I got to stay alive. Do you know who's voice that was?" I asked as he shook his head no again. "When I was passed out I heard your voice. Telling me that I can't give up" I said as he walked towards me.

"You told me when we were younger that no matter who hard life gets you got to keep fighting" I said as he hugged me tightly. "I remember that day when we were working on homework together. You saved me from almost dying" I said as he started to cry. "You were always there for me. I love you Jack" I said as he kissed me. "I love you too" He said as the door opened.

"There you guys are I was looking for you at school" Kim said as we broke are hug. "Was there something going on at school?" I asked as she nodded her head slowly. "It's Lily. When we saw her today there was blood dripping down her hands. We lifted up her sleeves and saw five new cuts on each arm" Kim said as I looked down. "Where is she now?" I asked while turning into my wolf form. "She's outside the school with Zane" She said as I stated sprinting to the school.

I might be sick, but nothing is going to stop me from running. I reached the school and saw Lily and Zane sitting on the stairs. I walked over to Lily and looked at the cuts on her wrist. "I'm sorry" Lily said. "Don't be" I said touching the cuts. "Well from the looks of it you can tell you didn't do this with a razor. You used a pocket knife" I said as she nodded her head. "Well we have all been there before. I know exactly how you feel" I said as she hugged me tightly.

"Why can't the world come to an end?" She asked as I giggled. "Ok I know life is just kicking us in the ass right now but if the world came to and end we wouldn't be able to hang out" I said as she started laughing. "See that's the laugh I want to hear and that's the smile I want to see" I said while coughing. "Are you ok?" She asked. "Yeah just sick" I said as she backed away from me. "Do not come near me. You are ill and contagious" She said as I started laughing.

"Well I better go home now and try to get better" I said while coughing on her. "Are you kidding me" She said. "Nope" I said while running away. I ran all the way back to the house and walked inside. "How did it go?" Jack asked. "Let's just say I made her smile" I said while running up to my room. I shut he door and started looking for my notebook. "Looking for something" Jack said while holding my notebook. "Jack please tell me you didn't read it" I said as he started laughing. "Honestly I'm glad I read this because now I know how much of a crush you had on me" He said as I tried to garb the book.

"Give it back" I said trying to grab it again. "What is this notebook for anyways" He said as I stepped on his foot as hard as I could. "Owww what the hell did you do that for" He said as I grabbed the notebook. "That's for reading my secret notebook" I said while grabbing a pencil. "Was it really that important" He said as I punched him in the stomach. "And that's for not respecting my personal things" I said while walking out the door.

I grabbed my jacket and walked outside. I put on my jacket and went to the woods. I used to go here all the time when I was dealing with depression. It was always so calming just to sit in the woods. I sat down near a tree and started writing in my notebook. I drew a picture of Lily and wrote some stuff I learned about her beside it. I did this every time someone came into our emo group.

(1 hour later)

It has been an hour now and I haven't returned back home. I wonder if Jack is looking for me. If he was looking for me, he will never find me. Come to think of it I never told Jack about the woods. "Jade" Jack said standing in front of me. "How did you find me?" I asked. "Your dad told me you would be here. Come on let's go back inside it's cold out here" He said as I didn't move. "I'm not leaving until I'm ready to leave" I said as he tried to pick me up. "Jack I'm serious. I'll go back inside when I'm ready to go back inside" I said as he stopped. "Are you really that mad at me" He said as I looked down.

"Yes, I'm that mad. You had no right to read what was in my notebook" I said as he sat down next to me. "Jade I'm really sorry. I know it was the wrong thing to do and I should have asked you first but, I just really wanted to know what was in that notebook" He said as I got up off the ground. "Well maybe you should think twice before you look into someone's private property. You can sleep on the floor tonight" I said while walking back home.

I walked inside the house and went upstairs to my room. I didn't feel like eating at all. I wasn't even hungry. All I wanted to do was go to sleep and wake up happy. I put my notebook up on the highest shelf in my closet and closed the door. I laid down on my bed as Jack walked in. "Oh and I changed my mind about you sleeping on the floor. You can sleep on the couch downstairs" I said as he walked out of my bedroom.

I know I might have hurt his feelings, but to be fair he hurt mine first. I got comfortable in my bed and turned off the light. Now realizing it was pretty hard to fall asleep without a pair of arms around me. I stared at the ceiling for a while until I fell asleep.
