Teeth

Chapter 1

Recap: Canines, sharp shiny canines piercing my skin and I let out a blood curling scream as a shot was fired and the wolf took off. Black spots filled my vision as I staged holding my now wrist that was gushing bleed over. I heard a cuss as I hit the wall hard before it all went black.

I woke up to the sound of the beeping. Like a heart monitor, the beep every time your heart pumped and let blood fill your veins. I felt numb and very cold and it felt very breezy as well as my eyes slowly came to be and opened letting the light flood in. White. It was everywhere and the smell of bleach and sterile smells filled my senses completely while I stared blankly up at the white ceiling. My body ached, mostly my wrist. An ache that seemed to spread through my body. An ache telling me to just fall back asleep that when I woke up I'd be at home. In my bed at the apartment peacefully sleeping oblivious to the world around me. But the beeping got louder and the door opened.

"Your awake." A cheerful voice said and my eyes moved to the doorway. A young blonde woman in a nurse uniform stood there. She had a bleach dye-job with major dark brown roots at the top that spread with blonde streaks throughout them. Her eyes were a happy yet bubbly crystal blue colors yet the happiness seemed forced. She probably put on that fake smile for anyone that she was near. "Where am I?" I asked trying to move and wincing before looking down at the gown I was in. Which explained why I was so cold and my now white skin was covered in goose bumps.

"Winterose hospital. You were attacked by a wolf." She said and I looked at her nametag. It read Leila. The white wolf, the truck, the rifle and the teeth sinking into my skin. My eyes shifted over to my hand slowly to see it bandaged up with some blood showing up. "We'll have to change the bandages." Leila said coming over. There was a needle in my opposite wrist pumping some fluids into my body. Leila looked at the bandage before nodding. "I'll get the doctor to come, but first I'll take some vitals." Leila said and I watched her.

Leila took one of those finer machines and put it on my index finger and I watched her thorough lidded fingers. "W-Who brought me here?" I asked. "A young man who found you bleeding, if he hadn't found you there is a chance you could of bled out." Leila said. That didn't settle right with me the thought of dying. The wolf was no doubt shot by that guy and possible bit me out of fear. From now on I'll never go through dark bridges or try to help wolves unless making sure it wasn't hunted or I was out of biting distance.

Leila continued checking my vitals and looked at the heart machine. "Your heart beat is still a little faster, I'll go get Dr. Lake to come check on you and make sure everything is ok with you." Leila said and I nodded. Leila smiled before disappearing to no doubt get this Dr. Lake. She was just so cheery and cheery and I didn't go to well together so it was a good thing she was only a nurse. Cheery and bright bubbly happiness never went well with me, especially now.

It was still hard to believe that I was attacked by a wolf. The puncture wounds most of been deep if I risked the chance of bleeding out. I wonder if it was the man with the rifle that brought me here. The wolf was no doubt being hunted by that man with the rifle. Maybe that's why the wolf bit me or maybe the wolf had rabies? I'm sure the doctors would test me for that and if I had gotten rabies they'd give me all the shots for it. Maybe that's why the wolf was being hunted.

I hope I didn't encounter that wolf again, so I was going to take a different route home. One that wasn't surrounded by woods or underneath a bridge in the night. Unless in emergencies of course. I took the route home as it was the quickest to the apartment my aunt rented out for me. It could be scary, but it was the quickest. So from now on I'd take a longer route to avoid anything scary and things like that. I had no desire for that wolf to come back or encounter another gun wielding guy who could of shot me by accident.
