Recap: He was in her way and she was pissed. The place went quiet as a howl echoed through. Except it didn't come from Raye or I as Embry looked at me. And I had control for a moment staring dumb shocked as Raye swallowed. "Amos. . . he's here."

I felt it all like I did the first shift. My vision was blurry as Embry dragged me out of the way shoving human and vampire aside. Raye followed as we went somewhere more empty however we didn't lose the three that we wanted to.

I felt hot and tore at the choker on my neck. The leather snapped as my nails ached. They grew a deep black color until the human nail was replaced by wolf. Raye went quicker having torn straight out of his clothes. Chestnut fur pushed through his tanned skin as I tugged at the dress. Embry helped me out as I screamed and I screamed. It burned. I bled, fur pushed through my skin as my wolf waited. And her anger was different now as the howl echoed through once more. The howl of a wolf wanting to be an alpha.

Amos's howl. The coffee fur built on my skin as my bones snapped. It was a terrible feeling, but I pushed through. Embry watched having kept his cool skin on my feverish skin. It was a relief in a way feeling him so close to me and the coolness of his skin cooling me down. It was a terrible six minutes of my bones snapping and shifting before the pants of a human became the growls of a wolf. Except this time it was different. I didn't remember anything from my first shift, my wolf had been in charge.

But now? It was both of us. My eyes adjusted as I placed each paw down. "She's a werewolf." I heard Jessica say. "Moon-shifter you dumbass, werewolves are extinct." Embry snapped his eyes going red. Pride swelled in my chest at him defending me. My mate. My boyfriend, my other half. The one I slept with. The wolf size I was in was massive yet held nothing on Raye. I was just beneath Embry's hips while Raye was above Embry's hips. His brown eyes stared into my violet eyes as the fur on my back went on end and we growled at each other.

Each wolf meeting each other on unfamiliar territory. I could smell the vampires and the blood. I could smell Raye's earthy scent as we stood off. Each poised and ready to attack. My ear twitched at the sound of the pads of a paw falling and my body snapped to the entrance as Embry looked over still at my side. A growl boiled in my throat as did Raye as he walked into sight. Every fiber of my being craved blood, from the vampires that insulted me, but now from him as he stood in front of me.

Amos. He was massive, easily bigger than I. With fur like snow he was the same as I remembered. The wolf I took pity on and in response was attacked and turned. The one who changed my life and gave me the curse and blessing of a moon-shifter. He was larger than Raye and I but Raye was more muscular, but Amos was taller than Raye for sure. And he knew it and kept his fur on end to bring to the height as his hackles stood up making him appear bigger. The three of us stood there facing off waiting for the next move.

My wolf identified none of them as friends. The only one identified as not a threat was Embry, but that was because of me. Although my wolf saw Raye as a potential ally. She could sense the hate he had for Amos as well. But my wolf saw Amos as the enemy. He wanted to be the alpha, she could sense it, and she bowed to no one. Amos walked over his golden eyes burning into my violet ones. My lips curled as I growled at him a warning to stay away. His ears flickered back in annoyance.

And he approached. I snarled. I was shorter than both of them, but longer than them with more muscle in my legs. I was a lankier wolf compared to their muscular forms. But I wasn't afraid. He still approached as the coffee hackles went on end. Raye snarled as well and Amos halted as the three of us faced off. Jessica was trying to hide behind Michael as was Jake. "They're werewolves we can take them on, we drove them to extinction after all." Michael said and Amos glanced at him. He wasn't even worth his time, that's what the look spoke.
