Recap: "Last night was the full moon, when we are turned our bodies have no choice but to shift from the moon's pull." Raye said and I went still at that. "Violet, your a moon shifter, like me."

The sudden realization that your life would never be the same was like a kick in the gut. No worse than that. A stab in the gut. The intense feeling of falling with nothing to grab onto. Knowing you were going to hit rock bottom and the chance that you may not survive the fall lurking in your mind.

That's what it felt like when Raye said those five words. Violet, your a moon shifter. Those simple five words would change my life more so than having sex with Embry had. The dawning that I was no longer human. The simple life of mine snatched away in an instant. All because I took a shortcut home and had a soft and loving heart for animals. Those simple words changed my life. Embry may be a vampire, but he always looked human, just paler and a bit colder along with fangs and needed blood to survive.

Every full moon I turned into a goddamn wolf from now on. "What the fuck is a moon shifter?" And it wasn't Embry or I that demanded it, no that was Victor. His cold steely gaze was shifted onto Raye who watched him. "A breed of werewolves." Raye said and Victor glared him down. And Embry looked confused and. "Werewolves are extinct, they've been extinct for almost two centuries." Victor said. Even Embry nodded at that. "And as you can guess one family survived. . . and evolved into something that can live in an environment full of humans and vampires hunting them." Raye said.

"And your part of that family?" Victor asked sarcasm laced through his voice. "No. I'm not part of that family." Raye said. "But your a moon shifter?" Victor asked with those two words having so much venom in them. "Yes." Raye said. "Then how are you not part of that family?" Victor asked. "Like I said, they evolved. And I was bit." Raye said. And then he pulled up his shirt and I felt sick at the sight. Sure he had muscles but they were covered up. And what covered them up made me sick.

His torso was littered in bite marks. They made my two scars look puny in comparison. Some were dragged down as a sign on struggle. Even Victor seemed a bit disturbed before Raye lowered his shirt. "I was bitten. . . by the same wolf that you were." Raye said looking at me. "The white one?" I asked. Raye nodded. "Don't let that appearance fool you, he is not kind, he is sadistic and I can guarantee you if he can find you alone, he'll break your mind more so than you can handle." Raye said making my blood run cold at just the thought.

"How do you know this?" Embry asked. "Because I spent a month with him before escaping, he is vicious, and controlling and has only one want in his life." Raye said. "What is that?" Embry asked. "A pack, he's finding humans he deems worthy and biting them and turning them. I did the same thing you did." Raye said and I tilted my head in confusion at that. What did he mean by doing the same thing I did. Last time I checked he was a shotgun wielding psycho with a bit of a heart with hurt people.

"Saw him hurt, offered him sanctuary until he healed, a vet. He's cunning and manipulative. He spent three weeks in my house as the white wolf before mauling me half to death a week from the full moon. As you can assume I shifted, he spent a month trying to make me the perfect wolf for his pack. When he turned away I escaped and made a vow to end him and prevent him from turning anyone, and I did a good job, he hasn't turned anyone since me. . . except you now." Raye said looking at my leg and wrist.

I went still. "I felt you shift last night. The distress you went through, and the rage and fear with being cornered by something you felt was a threat to your existence. . . and so did he. He was the first howl that lured you out, and I was the second. You followed my howl instead of his. Because I howled more. He was waiting for you to come visit him and beat you into submission. But for your safety I lured you away to a deer herd. So you took out the rage on about five deer. Three elderly, one sick, and a buck who decided to attack." Raye said.
