It was almost a week before Elizabeth saw Meliodas again.

Elizabeth, Diane, King and Ban were playing round a tree. And by playing I mean that Elizabeth and Diane were watching Ban chase King around wanting to get a ride on his chastefol.

"Come on! I thought we were friends! Gimme a shot!" Ban whined, running after King.

"No! We aren't friends!" King yelled while flying round and round to get away from Ban.

Diane, who was sitting on a tree branch, just laughed. Elizabeth joined in, though it was kind of dampened.

Diane frowned. "What's wrong Elizabeth?" She asked. "You're never usually this down."

"It's just," Elizabeth looked down. "I haven't heard from Meliodas in a while. Usually, we'd meet up or go to the cave and wait for each other but he hasn't shown up in a week."

"Maybe he is just busy." Diane tried to lift her spirits.

"Maybe, but I feel like he's avoiding me." Elizabeth sighed.

"I'm sure he isn't- hey, isn't that him?" Diane pointed to the forest, where Meliodas sat in a tree, watching them.

Elizabeth flew over to him and slapped him. "Where have you been?!?! I haven't seen you in a week!"

Meliodas held his cheek. It was bleeding. "Because I have to- I have to-" Meliodas looked like he was about to cry and his mark flickered on and off.

Elizabeth's expression softened, and her face filled with worry. "Have to what?"

"I have to end our relationship." Meliodas stated.

Elizabeth looked like she was going to cry now. "W-what? Why? W-what have I done?"

"My father is arranging a marriage with some noble demon. He's showing me suitable suitors tomorrow." Meliodas's powers switched off.

His emerald eyes filled up with tears that spilled out and he hugged Elizabeth tightly. He began crying. Elizabeth did to and the lovers slid to the floor. "I don't want to marry someone else!" He cried. "I-I love you!"

Elizabeth looked up tearfully. "I-I love you too-"

"What, you love her?! Yeah right!" King chortled. "You demons aren't capable of emotions, nevermind love. Elizabeth, what do you see in scum like him?" The others stared at King in astonishment.

"You're right; we don't have emotions." Meliodas stood up, his fists clenched. His eyes were covered by his bangs. "We are not capable of such emotions."

"Meliodas..." Elizabeth sniffed tearfully.

"That's what everyone thinks, right? Well, you're wrong. So wrong. We do have emotions, just not everybody sees them! We are, by no fault but our genetics, very cautious and suspicious creatures! Us demons may be a little bit heartless, but that's the way we were raised!"

Meliodas turned his head towards King. His eyes were still covered. "You know that. You know, you were once my best friend. I still hoped we would be friends but not anymore, since you hate my guts.

All I'm going to say is this: I'm sorry." And Meliodas ran off. Literally. He didn't activate his powers at all.

Elizabeth flew after him and Diane turned to King. "You happy now?"

"Huh?"

"I said, are you happy now? You constantly insult Meliodas and strain his and Elizabeth's relationship, then you attack him. Then you might've just ruined their entire relationship! He even just apologised!"

"I don't care, he betrayed me." King said, but a hint of uncertainty laced his voice.

"Well, I'm not going to hang around with you until you do. C'mon Ban, let's go to the tavern." Diane huffed angrily and stormed off, Ban close behind at the mention of the revered booze, leaving King completely and utterly alone at the edge of a forest.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth found Meliodas at a little cottage in the middle of the woods, her cottage in fact. She ran in, and saw Meliodas curled up on the couch, crying quietly.

She tiptoed over and pulled him onto her lap, hugging him tightly. He tensed then relaxed. He sobbed into her chest. Once he had calmed down, Meliodas looked up at Elizabeth. He sat up straight. "Did you mean it?"

"Did I mean what?" Elizabeth asked.

"When you said you loved me."

"Y-Yes." Elizabeth stuttered, blushing.

Meliodas smirked and smashed his lips on hers. She instantly kissed back and their kiss was filled with passion and a feeling that could only be described as love.

Meliodas nipped her bottom lip gently, asking for permission. Elizabeth obliged and his tongue slid into her mouth. He grabbed her waist and puller her closer. She put arms round his neck and ran her fingers through his messy hair. Meliodas groaned into the kiss.

He pinned Elizabeth against the bed in the next room. His demon mark was activated. His demon was going crazy. He stopped the kiss and looked down at Elizabeth. Her eyes were filled with love and desire. "You sure?" He asked uncertainly.

Elizabeth nodded, biting her lip slightly. She wanted him. This was enough for him and he kissed her deeper than before. He swiftly removed her clothes and his own as well.

There, in the small cottage in the forest, the demon and the Goddess proved their love in the most intimate of ways, completing the act that would forever change things.
