Katelyn.
Aphmau and I sat on her couch. We were going to have a girl's night. Just the two of us. "I felt like we haven't had a girls night in forever Katelyn!" "Yeah me too. We really have to hang out more," I say. "I agree. Oh look I got a new phone case!" It was of this anime she really liked. (I forgot the name of the name. So don't judge me!)
"Did you know Gene was in the neighborhood," I asked? "He is? I didn't even know that." "Yeah. He came to my house yesterday. Which is weird," I point out. "That's weird. But he seemed nice on Love Love Paradise," Aphmau reasons. "Yeah too nice." If only I could tell her about his family. Or how he tried to kill both of us. But it's better if no one knows. So his target rate doesn't increase. Caution. "Anyway, what have you been up to lately?" "Well I been taking some self-defense classes," I say. "Really? You have to come to the spa with me one day. We can totally relax!" I smile and shrug. We decided to watch movies. My mind wanders back to (Y/n). This time it's her lesson. I wonder what's she is going to do. Throw knives at me again? Am I going to have to be emotionless like last time? I'll find out tomorrow I guess. Tomorrow. Ugh, my body already aches with the thought. Tomorrow I'm going to be beaten until I can get every move in memory. But (Y/n) never used the same move twice. Maybe that's my next lesson. That would make sense. She's unpredictable. Just forget about it, Katelyn! You're here with your friend and thinking about someone else. But I can't really focus. On the tv, many people have raw fear on their faces. But I sit with no emotion. The next day I went to the woods. (Y/n) looked at me. "Let's get a rerun of the last lesson. Then we can move on. I won't stick with a lesson for too long. There's no point," she says. I nod. I'm directed to stand by a tree again. I stand there and (Y/n) throws a knife. At most I flinch. "You learn fast," (Y/n) says. "What can I say? The near-death experience gets tiring," I say. "Okay, next lesson. You fight with your body. Not your mind. And that is common for people. Your mind is sent on an adrenaline high and shuts down. But if you want to survive these people you'll have to fight and use your mind," (Y/n) says. "How do we do that?" (Y/n) starts walking away. I follow her confusion. Trees fill us. I won't be able to remember the way we went.
(Y/n).
I stop and turn to Katelyn. "Get into a fighting stance," I ordered. She did as I said. I clicked my tongue and shook my head. "No, you want to a standstill. Know what your enemies are doing before they do it," I say. I straightened her back up. "That way you use your mind. Your enemy's body language will tell you," I tell her. "How do you know which body movement is which," Katelyn asked? "Depends on how well you know the person. Most people are tense when they fight others. These boys feel more relaxed but they grow tense if you taunt them. Remember they have been fighting their whole lives," I say. "Got it." I studied her carefully. "Now let's practice. I'll try to hit you. Use your mind. Stay relax and focus. Look for any signs that show I'm going to punch you." Katelyn nods. I stand there a few seconds. And then punch her arm. "I'm not going to hit you when I tell you. So don't think about it." We try again. Katelyn goes one second too late. "Good." We keep at it for hours. Katelyn learning exactly to move her hands and block. Soon we're sparing at each other. Even though she can't beat me. But I won't say she's not good. Katelyn has a lot of fire in her. "I'll see you tomorrow. Same time," I say. "Yeah, I guess." "You did good Blue. You're a quick learner." "Thanks. Goodnight (Y/n)." "Goodnight." I walk off to my building.
Katelyn.
I sat on my couch curled up with a book. It was something about mermaids. Now I know it's weird. But my mind still wandered back to (Y/n). I wonder where she is staying. If she's warm. What is she eating for dinner? I know my questions could never be answered. I'm sure (Y/n) will just brush them off with a simple gaze. Okay, what's my next lesson? The other one didn't go so well so I'm not going to try it again. We can do anger management. (Y/n) does has a lot of anger built up in her. Maybe we have to let that go. At least a little. That's my next lesson. (Y/n) isn't the very nicest person alive. Suddenly the lights turn off. What is the name of Irene?! There's lots of noise coming from upstairs. I set my book down and stand up. "Hello? Kawaii-Chan," I called out. A hand covers my mouth and pulls me in a closet. A glow stick is pulled out and I see (Y/n). "Ssh." "How did you get here," I whispered?! "Nothing has happened in a few days. They have been looking for me for years. This was suspicious," (Y/n) answered in a whisper. She shushed me as we hear them come closer. Gene's voice ranged out. (Y/n)'s ears and tails are out now. We hear them go away and (Y/n) opens the door. She grabs my arm and pulls me out. We walk quietly and briskly upstairs. "Why are we going upstairs," I asked? "They're downstairs. The safest bet is going upstairs." I nod and follow her.
