If anyone says they love moving, they are definitely stupid. Moving is the second worst thing in the world, next to being left. My mom, my big brother Jason, and me sat in the car. Of course I was in the backseat of the pickup truck, Jason never let me have it. My dad was driving the U-Haul behind us, probably blaring Bob Marley and singing awful. We drove on the 401 which consists of grass out the window, and more grass. I sighed and pulled the headphones out of my ears.

“How much longer ma?” I asked sweetly. We’ve already been in the car for 8 hours, and I just wanted to lie down.

“Stop asking Hay,” Jason said. He never called me Hayden.

“It was the first time Jason, calm down.” He laughed in the front seat. My brother was cute. He was tan, over 6 feet tall and built, and had natural blond hair with green eyes and a perfect smile. Thank god for his good looks, because he passed me his green eyes and blond hair. And with 3 years of braces, I also have perfect teeth now. My skin was normal like my parents.

“Kids, stop fighting.” My mom said with a smile in the front seat. I rolled my eyes and looked down at my phone as it vibrated. It was my best friend Danielle. ‘Miss you already! Can’t wait until the holidays to see you! It’s gonna suck without you here.’ I smiled and locked my iPhone, there was nothing to say back. “We’re almost there, only a few minutes away now.” My mom said. I crossed my legs and rolled down my window, thankful that we moved from one warm place all year round to another. I don’t think I could live without surfing with Jason. After a few minutes we stopped in front of a house. Our house. I jumped out and rolled my shorts up one more time. I hated tan lines. Peeling my tank-top off, I stood in my jean shorts and pink bikini top. Jason peeled his shirt off too and we immediately started taking bags out of the car. I walked up the driveway and waited for my mom to come unlock the door. When I stepped inside the ceiling was tall, with a balcony overlooking the living room with a fireplace. Across the living room was a kitchen, so open and big, and a door, leading into the backyard. I put my things down and went to the door, going out back. There was a picnic table, and about 20 feet of grass before it hit the sand. The beach continued on from there to the water. I smiled, we lived about 5 minutes from the beach at home, and now, it was my backyard. There was a chain fence on each side, and it closed with a gate where the grass ended. Everyone’s backyard was like this. Jason came up behind me and put a hand on my bare back.

“This is awesome.” I smiled and nodded, hugging him. Jason and I were always close like this, but when we fought it wasn’t pretty. Something caught my eye, and I turned to see a boy next door. He was just as tan as my brother, and his hair was dark brown. He met my eyes and stared for a second before looking up at Jason. I smiled, trying to look friendly, and he rolled his eyes, going back inside. This boy didn’t even know me and was already being rude to me? I shook my head and Jason and I went back to the car to grab more things. Once we had everything in the foyer and the living room we all stood together. I pulled my hair up in a high ponytail and my dad put his arm around me and my brother.

“We’re going to start a new chapter in the Robinson book.” I wanted to roll my eyes at the corny line, but he was right. “Let’s get to work."

We put the things away in the kitchen and living room first. Everything was already painted because my dad came down a few days before and painted everything for us. The living room and the kitchen was now a light yellow, with white furniture from the old house. Jason and me both had bedrooms upstairs, mine at the end of the hall and his was as soon as you turn the corner, a bathroom was in between, connecting our rooms. Our parents room was downstairs with the laundry room. Me and Jason carried our beds up and our dressers and other things. I stood in the middle of my room and looked at everything. There was a door with a blind on it, I unlocked it and opened it. There was a small balcony, probably about 3 meters wide and long. If I turned I could see the ocean. The sound of loud music came from the neighbour’s house. I turned and looked. If I were to lean against the rail of the balcony, I could probably touch their house. There was an open window right in front of me, with the same boy from earlier inside. He was the one playing the music. I waved my hands, but he didn’t look at me. Finally I picked up a rock the size of my palm and threw it in, just trying to get his attention, but it hit him and now he was eyeing me down. He turned down the music and came over.
