 Chapter 25

            Ronnie’s POV

I knew Sam was mad, but his knuckles were white as a ghost while he drove 20 mph over the speed limit.

“Maybe you should slow down Sam,” I whispered. His jaw clenched and unclenched, but he dropped 10 mph so that was a start. “Why are you so upset?”

“Peters fucking dad. I fucking hate him.” He snapped. We both knew Bill was Peters step dad, but we got to lazy saying Bill or step dad, we just said dad.

“I know, you don’t think I’m not upset about it either Sam?” I said, but I could hear my voice getting louder than before.

“Don’t fucking turn this on me Ron. And then I go and punch my best friend. How would you feel if you punched Hayden in the face?” I knew it was a rhetorical question but I answered anyways.

“Obviously I would feel like shit, but you don’t need to take your anger out on me. You always do this now!” I was shouting now, but I didn’t give a shit. The last week he’s been such a dick to me. Not in front of our friends, tonight at the carnival was the nicest he’s been to me in a while. I knew he loved me, but he just never showed it like he did after I kissed him.

“I don’t do anything! If you didn’t piss me off so much this wouldn’t fucking happen Ronnie! Fuck, you’re such a bitch sometimes!” We stopped at a red light and I got out. “Ronnie, where the fuck are you going?!” I spun around.

“Away from you!” I walked a few steps before I heard him running behind me. He grabbed my wrist and spun me back around. I began punching his chest hard, but he didn’t even flinch, he just let me beat the shit out of him. I knew I wasn’t hurting him because he was like steel but it made me feel slightly better. When I stopped I looked at him, he looked calm.

“Are you done?” He whispered. I nodded and he put his hand on the small of my back. “Please get in the car so I can bring you home.” I hesitated before I stomped off to the car and got in, slamming my door. I had to be dramatic, drama was my strong suit. He got in and we drove for what felt like forever. We pulled into his driveway.

“I thought you said you were bringing me home.” He looked at me with his door open and seatbelt off.

“This is home, I am your home.” He got out and I felt my heart flutter. No, he’s just doing this to get me to not be mad. Walking around the car he opened my door. When I got out he closed the door, and sandwiched me between him and the back door. Without saying anything he leaned down and kissed me and of course I kissed him back.

“We need to talk.” I whispered.

“I couldn’t agree more.” He took my hand and I let him walk me through his house and to his room. He sat me on the edge of the bed and went on his knees to talk to me. His face was leveled with mine while he looked me straight in the eyes, taking my hands again. “I’ve been a shitty boyfriend.”

“That’s a bit of understatement.” He nodded and I was surprised he was this calm right now. I was surprised he even agreed to talk.

“You’re right baby. You are. I’m so sorry for everything I’ve done. I know I’ve been treating you badly, and I wish I had a reason but I don’t, and I won’t feed you some bullshit excuse.” I looked down at our hands. “I don’t want you to give up on me though Ron. I love you.” Now I looked back up to his eyes. “I do, I love you so much. I’m so sorry. Please, forgive me.”

“You really love me? You’ll stop doing this to me?” I asked. He grabbed my face.

“Yes, I really love you. I could never love anyone else. I won’t hurt you again. You’re my everything Ron.” I smiled.

“I love you too.” He smiled and kissed me. And it was the best night I’ve had in a while.
