Peter’s POV
It’s been a week and half and today was the day. Hayden and I were on good terms from last week and we were okay. She’s pretty upset because since the fight on the beach Ronnie won’t talk to her. No one will. Jacob keeps calling but I don’t answer and then I delete his voicemails, he can’t want that much from me. It doesn’t involve me anymore. I grabbed my duffel bag that literally had 2 sets of clothes and my toothbrush, deodorant and my money. I tucked my phone in my pocket and went out to the car. We were taking my Jeep and I made sure to put the doors and top on, just in case anything happened. We needed to leave now though. I went over to her house and walked in without knocking. I didn’t have to anymore, we were all so close. Jason stopped coming around so much. I think it was too hard on him to see his dad like that so he normally stayed at Ronnie and Drew’s.
“HAYDEN?” I screamed into the house after looking in the kitchen and the living room. Her dad came out from his room and stared at me.
“I’ll be down in a second!” She called and I knew she was in her room.
“Hey pops, how ya doing?” I asked him.
“Not good.” He whispered looking up the stairs and then back to me. “It’s going to happen soon. I need you to give her a great weekend for me. Please.” I felt the lump in my throat and I held back tears. I never cried, and I wasn’t going to but this was hurting me, because this family means everything to me.
“You won’t.. I mean, while we’re gone will you?”
“No.” He whispered. “I hope not.” I nodded and opened my mouth to talk. “So yeah, just take the highway to that road and then go from there, got it now?” He said, and I knew Hayden was behind me without turning.
“Oh, okay, Gotchya thanks.” He gave me a thankful smile. I turned to her now, she had a suitcase and her purse. “Hey baby, you ready to go?” She nodded and jumped up and down for a couple seconds.
“Yes!” She ran over to her dad.
“I’ll go put your things in the Jeep,” I said, grabbing her stuff and leaving the room so they could have a moment. Whenever we went anywhere, and we knew it was going to be over an hour she made sure she hugged him for like 5 minutes. It was cute. I put her purse in the passenger seat and then her suitcase in the backseat with my bag. I got in the front and waited for her. When she came out she was carrying another duffel bag and a blanket with a pillow. I opened the door and stood there.
“What?” She asked.
“Baby what the hell, we’re going for 1 night.”
“You never know what might happen! What if it’s cold!? What if it rains or its hot as hell?” I rolled my eyes but a smile crept on my face.
“Get in the Jeep.”
“Ou, or what?” She asked, raising her eyebrow at me.
“Or I’ll come over there and make out with you in the back seat.” She blushed and got in without another word. Damn. I got in next to her and started the car. She put the Drake CD on right away and squealed. I laughed and her dad came out, waving to us from the front door. She stopped and looked sad while she waved. I grabbed her hand and backed out, driving away.
---
It’s only been an hour and Hayden was already passed out next to me. Her head was resting on my arm so I had to drive with my left hand because her hand was still in mine. I pulled into the gas station, I also could go for a coffee but I didn’t want to wake her up. I pulled up to a pump and turned the car off.
