The 4 days at school were easy. The teachers really didn’t care what we did and we just talked throughout class. Not me, I actually had to study because I had missed so much school due to the move. The night I went to Ronnie’s ended better than I thought it would. I stayed at her house until 1, called Peter to get me and the car ride was completely silent like he promised. When I got home, everyone was asleep which was good. My parents still haven’t talked about it, only simple sentences throughout the day. No one was ever home, my dad was at work, my mom was doing god knows what, and Jason was either at work or at Danielle’s. Jacob kept me company these past 3 days and not a word has been exchanged between Peter and I. Someone sitting next to me brought my head up.

“Hello beautiful,” Jacob said, smiling at me. I smiled back. “What are you doing?” He asked, leaning forward.

“Review for exams. They are next week you know.” I said, smiling sideways at him. He nodded, resting his hand on my leg under the table.

“Of course I know. You don’t need to do review, you’re already smart.” I laughed and he smiled. The bell rang and I got up, just gym and the day was over. When I went to my locker Ronnie was waiting already. I smiled at her, grabbing my stuff.

“Do you know what we’re doing for gym?” She asked me for the third time today. I looked at her about to roll my eyes. “I forgot!”

“Baseball, the only sport I can’t play.” I said, sighing.

“You’re fine, I’m sure someone can teach you.”

“I always swing too early!” I said as we walking in the locker room. The girls in this class were nice, but all super quiet. Ronnie and I were the loudest of them all.

“I know,” she said. We went out and met up with the boys in the hall. Mrs. Morgan blew her whistle once and everyone shut up.

“Okay! Baseball today!  Three laps, and no cheating! Ronnie, I’m talking to you.” She said, smiling. Ronnie snickered as we went out. Like the very first time, and every time since I came, I finished first of the girls. Going inside I went right to the fountain. Pulling my headphones out I glanced at my phone to pause my music. Looking around I took in my surroundings. No one was around, but no one was around last time either. I bent over, taking a drink. The lights flickered making me shoot up and look around. The lights were flickering fast. The announcements turned on.

“Everyone, this is a lockdown. This is not a drill, please lock the doors and count heads to ensure you have everyone. This is not a drill.”
