(I am so sorry that it's taken me so long to update!!! I've been busy lately! I hope you're all enjoying! xoxo)
Peter’s POV
The second Hayden was off my lap I felt empty. I knew that when I told her to get off me I didn’t really mean it. She knew it too. Her and Jason have been gone for a couple minutes and I could see them go into the room. Which was the lovely moment Karen came up to me and sat across from me.
“We need to talk.” She said making me roll my eyes. Who the hell did she think she was? She fucked everything up. “I was wrong to of slapped you.”
“You think?” I snapped, rolling my eyes again.
“You see, that is the exact reason I don’t like you.”
“I couldn’t give less of a shit if you liked me or not.” I said. She sighed.
“You’re so difficult. Why are you so ignorant to me? I’m an adult.” She rested her hand over her heart, as if to play out how hurt she was.
“Maybe you should act like it then.” I was on a roll with these comebacks.
“You don’t know what it’s like to have your children hate you for no reason.” She said, trying to make me feel bad for her. I sat on the edge of my seat, my hands crossed together and resting on my legs.
“Listen to me right now. You don’t know what it’s like to have your parents ripped apart. You should’ve seen Hayden the day she came to me and told me that you were screwing someone else.” She opened her mouth but I held my hand up to stop her. “I’m not fucking done. You didn’t see the way she cried to me, the way I held her to get her to just calm down for a second. You have no idea what she is going through right now. And when she needs someone to run to, it won’t be her mom, it’ll be me. Because Karen? I’m always there, and I’m always going to be. So you can sit around and try and mother her, but she will never trust you again, not after what you did to her family.” The scream that went through the hospital walls was loud. I knew that scream too well. I jumped up and ran to the room where I last saw Hayden and Jason go. Walking in without knocking I saw her. Hayden was on the ground crying harder than I’ve ever seen her cry, it was breaking my heart. Jason was crying and so was John. What the fuck? A doctor was trying to pick Hayden up but she wouldn’t budge.
“Peter,” her dad said when she stopped screaming. She screamed again and I knew in this moment I never wanted to hear her scream like this again. “Peter take her to your house. Please take her.” John cried. I went to her, scooping her up effortlessly and walking out. She continued to cry and scream on the way out. When we passed Karen she just sat and watched. I finally got to her.
“Baby shh, it’s okay baby I’m here.” I cooed. She stopped screaming but her cries were just as loud. I opened the backdoor to my Jeep and lied her down before running around and jumping in, gunning it to my house. She stopped crying and when I turned around to look at her she was just staring. She’s in shock. I parked and carried her out into my house.
“Oh my!” My mother jumped up and came over brushing Hayden’s hair back from her eyes. They were closed but I knew she wasn’t sleeping.
“Thanks ma.” I whispered. She nodded and I went upstairs sitting her on my bed. She opened her eyes and met mine. There was no life behind them. She looked as empty as a white wall. I grabbed her face with both hands.
