The sound of Peter snoring in my ear woke me up. I was lying on my back, my head looking straight at the ceiling. Peter however, was on his left side, his one arm around me, holding my waist, the other hand squished between our bodies. I reached up and rested my arm on Peters. He stirred, and I shut my eyes, pretending to be asleep. I wasn’t chickening out. Okay, maybe I was, but the chances of him being a complete ass to me was extremely high. I felt his hand that mine was on move, and went to my face. He started to brush back the baby hairs that always tended to escape. After he did that, he brushed his finger down my jaw line and resting on my chin. I turned and felt his hand freeze on my face, while I turned towards him and wrapped my hand around him on the small of his back, shoving my face in chest so he couldn’t see the faint smile on my lips. He was tense for a minute before he wrapped his arm tightly around me. As we drifted off back into a sleep.
“Shut the fuck up you lying piece of shit!” A male screamed. I shot up and expected Peter to do the same, but he wasn’t there. And the voice sounded extremely familiar…
“No,” I whispered to myself, running out of the bedroom and down the stairs. Jason had Peter by his throat against the wall. “Jason stop!” I screamed, running at them, trying to get between them, but Jason was holding me back with one arm. He took one glance at me, his eyes going wide.
“What are you wearing?” He asked eyeing the pajamas that were Peter. “Answer me!” He screamed. Peter shoved him and got the upper hand because Jason wasn’t paying attention.
“Stop! You’re overreacting! We’re neighbours! We’ve only known each other for not even a month! Stop!” I said again. I pulled Peter by his hips, and he let Jason go, shrugging away from me and going up the stairs. I started going after him when Jason grabbed my upper arm. I yanked free. “Go home, I’ll be right there Jason.” He hesitated before leaving. I ran up the stairs and into the bedroom where Peter was pacing his floor.
“Are you okay?” I asked him. He rolled his eyes and grabbed my clothes from the floor, throwing them at me.
“Go home.” He snapped, turning away from me.
“I..I thought we were good?” I whispered. He spun around so fast, almost making me want to run home. He walked closer to me, and stopped right before we touched.
“There is no we. I felt bad for you because you had nowhere to go. I have a girlfriend, you’re nothing to me.” He said so fast. I felt like he had just ripped me apart, but he was right.
“I meant friends, what did you think I was talking about?” I said, acting confused. Now he looked like I had hurt him. Good. “I have to go, I need to call Jacob and ask if me and him are hanging out today. Thanks for letting me stay here.” I smiled and turned away, dropping the smile as soon as he couldn’t see me and ran out, going straight in my house and in my room.
It was always 1 step forward, 2 steps back with Peter. I took a long shower, changing into my own clothes, and tucking his into my bottom drawer at the very back. I sighed as I brushed my hair, I needed to talk to Jason. I pulled my hair into a top bun and went into his room where he was lying on his bed, headphones in his ears and eyes closed. I went over and lied down, but he didn’t move. I wrapped my arm around him and hugged him. He didn’t open his eyes or take his headphones out, but he held my hand. I sighed and just lied there. After a while he took his ear plugs out and turned to look at me.
