Our destiny is not written for us, but by us.
One Week Later.

"Where you want to eat at?" Trey asked me as we left my checkup. The babies were doing much better now that I've been eating better and taking care of myself. Blaze may not be himself right now, but if he was then I know for sure he would be on my ass about my health.
"How about Chipotle?"
The hospital that Blaze is at in D.C. requested that we not visit him until the weekend, so they could see if he's made any progress on his own. He's made little progress, but not a lot.
For example, he refuses to talk. Why? They don't know, but hopefully we can get some better answers when we fly out there tomorrow to see him.
"When was the last time you talked to Kyla?" he asked me and I frowned up my face.
"The night when I called her crying and she didn't give a fuck about me. Why?"
"It's been awhile since I've talked to her, I was just curious."
Not going to lie, when Kyla shrugged me off, it hurt. I just couldn't understand how she could do or say that to me, but I don't care anymore. I don't need her, and she clearly doesn't need me.
"You think Blaze will talk once he sees you?" he changed the subject by asking.
"He better," I joked. I was still smiling when I looked at Trey to see he had a smile on his face while he stared at me. "What? Do I have food on my face?" I asked making him laugh.
"No, it's just good to see you happy compared to how you've been the past few months. I know we're not blood related, but I don't give a damn what anyone has to say. You're my little sister and I'll always be there for you, fuck what Kyla thinks on it."
"I'm sorry if I'm the reason why you guys-"
"Nah, fuck that. She had her own issues she was dealing with, it wasn't just you."
When I got home, the house was extremely quiet. I walked into the living room and smiled when I saw my Dad and Ava fast asleep on the couch.
I went upstairs next and peaked my head in Alex's room, who was playing a game.
"What's that?" I asked him as I nodded towards his TV.
"Fortnite."
"The hell is that?" I asked him and he laughed.
"I'm playing online with Uncle Jermaine, you want to try, ma?"
"No sir. The only game I'm good at is grand theft auto," I said making him laugh. "You're gonna be okay while I'm gone?"
"Of course. Momma, you don't have to worry about me. Just tell Daddy I miss him," he told me as he rubbed his head.
"As soon as he gets better, I'll have you all on the first flight to go see him. I promise," I assured him as I took the seat next to him on his bed.
"Can't believe you're leaving me for five days," he joked but I took it seriously.
"I don't think I'll stay that long. I'll probably come back on-"
"No, Ma it was a joke. Stay as long as you want to, we'll be okay here. Just make sure you're taking care of yourself and drinking lots of water for the babies," he said making me smile. I leaned over and placed a kiss to the side of his head.
"I love you, so much. You're growing up too fast on me."
I don't care that he's only twelve and already taller than me, he'll always be my baby boy, no matter how old or big he may get.
